I was throttled in mid-air like nothing else before. He got me-he got me good, that's all I could think of. Now we're just about in a thicket. We were heading for a troubling landing if this forsaken bird flew any lower. Probably the worst time to feel like prey.
To my fear, it happened as soon as I thought it would. Heartbeat by heartbeat, we were coming closer to every tree in my peripheral view. I never got a good grip on the machete to make a swing at the Pterodactyl. Note to self-become invincible, god-dammit!
Then, a sickening screech. I never got to see the worse coming. Out of nowhere came a thicket of huge proportions that wrapped around all over, seconds away from.
Inside my head, it was a countdown to self-destruction. If only my abductor saw ahead of his huge beak! But no luck whatsoever. Something was bound to happen.

The two of us crashed head on! A single twig imbedded itself in my arm and I cried out with a scream.
Wings tried to free themselves from the vines and the beak thrashed in my face. My own flailing was doing nothing-until I started to fall from maybe five stories high.
Bam.
Right into the muck of a small lake.
I found the chance to hold my breath in the murky depths but caught up to the surface thoroughly scarred to the point of flesh wounds. A new paranoia washed over me with the water. Hurried footsteps came around.
"Oh my gosh!"
I looked in every direction for Lara's voice. She cut through the jungle soon enough with her climbing axe, swiftly maneuvering over an upside-down vehicle.
"Lara?" I called for her.
"My gosh-look at you! Don't swim with that arm! I'm coming to get you!"
In my pocket was an absolute miracle as I remembered. A handkerchief-one that felt just right for stopping the bleeding. Lara was busy un-tying her shoes to dive in. I got to work securing the cloth over my open wound.
*WHOOSH *
My boot hit a wire- up came a giant net that had me trapped like a spider's prey in it's web. The world was upside down as I nearly floated near the canopy and over my feet and shrieking.
A dart went in my abdomen and penetrated itself. No longer could I feel a thing. The world manifested into blackness before my very eyes.
