Just when all was calm, his instinct was to turn around to the sound of his challenger. He caught of a glimpse of the fellow male with a large blaze across his body launching at him from the air, mouth gaping jaws of bloodied teeth.
There was a call of battle from the stranger. Then came his tow claws unseathed, enough to pierce an enemy's flesh. Down went the other raptor, barely kicking his talon in the competitor's eye. No success. With a hunger in the blazed one's eyes, he took hold of the father's neck in his jaws and attempted to snap something. Before he could get at something, the father made a move and pushed him to the battle ground, farther from his eggs.

A single blink indicated that there was no light in the room. My hand went to the wall, and a switch brightened up the bungalow. I was welcomed by a cozy living space; a couch here, dining there, TV, some windows and fine stairs. From the look of the TV, I had a suspicion this place actually had WIFI. Reminded me of home.
Might as well enjoy my stay.
I gave one last look around again and sprinted halfway up the stairs. A door brought me to a space for the vacuum, supplies, etc. The rest of the stairs weren't so bad, as I found two bedrooms. Looked like I had the bungalow to myself.
Time for a new wardrobe.
Wardrobe? Check. Time for the hard part.
Moving in.

I had to declare, progress was made! Maybe I wasn't the tidiest with my bedroom, just as long as everything was in it's place. For the most part, I didn't intend to sleep much that night.
"Look at you!" came another girl.
Her foreign-like speech made me think twice about her. "Oh. You don't look too bad yourself." I smiled at her in the doorway. This girl was fit for her age, sleeve-less buttoned shirt and skinny jeans.
"That makes the two of us!" she approached kindly. From the slight shadow, there was a bruise on her temple, healed scar flaunted on her cheek.
"Welcome to the neighborhood-the name's Lara-Lara Croft." her hand extended.
"Robin Prestley, just so you know." I took my hand in hers.
She chuckled, brightening up her face. "You have some humor in you-I like it. Your simply the nicest I've met in a while."
"Comes naturally. Like my attitude. Let's just say I can pack a punch." replied me.
"Can't we all?" I saw a flicker of meaning in her eyes. At their moment, the air between us grew tense.
From the corner of my vision, an owl hooted, probably up and at his night shift. The funny thing was, I barely had time to see the sun setting. Then again, I would get another opportunity in the future.
"Ah. Ol' Oswaldo knows it's the night calling him. In my opinion, the stars have a real lack luster here. Disappointing, no?" Lara was kind of saddened.
I made the best of conversation. "Perhaps he'll come by in the morning and tell us about the stars?"
"We wish."
"Yea. A girl can dream, especially me. Didn't think I'd be woken at 5:00am in the morning getting chased by some Rex in my head."
"I've made some encounters with an old friend of mine on this island. Big fella. Some say he rules the entire half of the island in that direction." she pointed.
"Where have I been?" I rolled my eyes.
"Daydreaming, sister! You just said it clear and loud-how about we mosey on to my bungalow?"
"Lead the way!" I agreed with no hesitation.
It's true what they say--every door leads to another! Why stop at this one?
