You come place the coin and leave. You come out in the same spot as you entered in the beginning. You notice that this must mean no matter how far you "travel" in the bright white light of the other dimension, you will come out right where you jumped in. You look around at the scorched ground and the flecks of white, which you assumed was a fire extinguisher. There is no sign of Bill. You don't know how long you were gone, so you look up at the sun, it looks like it was only maybe an hour.
You carefully sneak into the Shack and see Ford in the kitchen. He had burn marks and wholes in his coat, and he wore a serious face as he dug through the fridge for something to eat. You look at him worriedly.
"Ford?"
Ford jumps and bangs his head on the top of the fridge that he was practically inside of. He lets out a grunt and grabs his head in reflex. "Jeez... Yes (y/n)? You surprised me..."
"Um, where's Bill?" You look around.
"Oh... he's pouting in the corner of the living room... Big baby..." He says it under his breath.
"Thanks" You say it raising an eyebrow in confusion and slight concern for what may have happened between them while you were gone. You step into the doorway of the living room, a hand on the door frame in case you need to suddenly bolt.
"Bill? You here?" You hear a grunt and a scoff from the far corner in the room. You see Bill sitting on the ceiling with his knees against his chest. "Bill? You ok?"
"OK?! (Y/n) I'm missing my flipping ARM!!!" He trows his arms "up" and you see one is partially missing, slowly reforming. A hunk of flesh falls to the ground from the force of him throwing his arms. You scrunch up your nose in slight disgust.
"At least it's...... growing back???"
"Whatever..." He floats back to the ground. "So what happened in there? Did you talk to anyone?"
"Nope. It was empty" You lied. You could see on his face that he could tell, but he didn't push you any further. You realized that if Bill knew about this he might try and find the music box. You decided you would get it before him.
"mhm... well... be careful" You nod
"I'll be upstairs if you need me." You ran up the stairs and quickly slipped out of the back window. You look down and inch towards the edge of the slanted roof. It was far from the ground, but you figured you could soften the landing by hanging from the gutter and then dropping. You did it, twisting your ankle in the process. You grunt in pain and hold it in your hands before standing up. You send a quick glance over your shoulder before dashing for the treeline. Once you made it into the forest you started to walk, feeling like you were out of anyone's sight.
You walk around, using oddly shaped trees as well as other things you used as a point of reference as to where you were. You finally made it back to the statue. You look at it and smile softly, you haven't heard it's sweet tune in what seemed like forever. You extend your arm and grab onto the outstretched hand. The music starts playing and you let out a happy sigh. You open the statue and see that the music box is still safely tucked inside. You take it out and examine the keyhole, debating if you should put the medallion in it or not. You turn it over and twist the small crank, letting the music play again. It slowed to a stop and so you cranked it again.
It started to play a tune similar, but every once and a while the music seemed different. Almost lower and more sinister, as if it was a warning saying that it was dangerous. You never realized there was another part to the song because you always let it play until it simply ran out, and you haven't listened to it that often. At least you were pretty sure that was the case. You stare down at the music box as you extended your arm and closed the statue. You stare into the keyhole, and suddenly curiosity grips you. You couldn't help yourself.
You slowly removed the medallion from around your neck and slowly brought it to the keyhole in the music box. The crank stopped and the music skipped a beat, but then it continued to play. Like something was making the music continue even though the crank stopped. You didn't notice this as you stared at the keyhole, the medallion closer than ever...
