Chapter 44

You sat next to (c/n)'s grave with your eyes closed and let out a long sigh. It felt nice to try and get away from it all like you used to. You didn't feel like someone was following you or that questions needed to be answered. You felt like you were able to stop time just for a while to collect yourself. You no longer felt that you had to help anyone, or that something was wrong. You stopped feeling like you needed to please everybody and try to save the day from something that may not even be dangerous. You looked down at the small mound of grass next to you and placed a hand on top, speaking softly.

"How you doin' buddy... really wish you were here right now... I could use a friend. At least one that isn't pent up with solving the mysteries of the world or constantly points out every little thing that could possibly be dangerous." You chuckled to yourself. "Sorry for... forgetting. To visit at least. It's been a while. Time just seems to be flying so fast... I need more time..."

As you finished that thought, you noticed something pull slightly at your neck. You looked down and the medallion jumped slightly. It slowly got stronger until it floated for a second, pulling towards the ground. You took it in your hands confused and felt it pull against your grasp. It flipped and fell out of your hand, hitting the ground with a silent crunch on rotting leaves. The portal suddenly opened. It reflected in your eyes, making them shimmer slightly. You felt a pull towards it and slowly entered through it. You squinted at the bright white "room" until your eyes adjusted. The same voice that was always there spoke up, he sounded impatient. "Well well well. Look who finally decided to show up." You sighed.

"Did you do that? With the coin?" You could almost feel the entity grinning.

"Clever (pronoun). However it seems you aren't clever enough." You wrinkled your nose.

"What are you saying?"

"If you haven't noticed doll, but every time you come here, I'm here... and I'm pretty sure you know why. Unless... you don't?"

"Are you saying I'm stupid? What are you trying to tell me? Just use your words." You spoke to him as if he were a child.

"Yes. Yes I am. I have been trapped in this goddamn PRISON for EONS. Just to be tormented by some meddling human flesh bag that comes along to just use me as an escape from their problems. How many times have you shown up here, huh? How many times did you jump into this damn dimension to run away from something? How many more times, do you plan to simply RUN instead of FIGHTING?!" You were at a loss for words. You looked down and calmly spoke.

"So... you really can't get out of here?"

"NO WHAT DON'T YOU GET?! I'VE ALREADY TOLD YOU THAT!" You frowned slightly at his angry tone.

"So you must have been put here for a reason. You wouldn't do this to yourself obviously..." At that, the voice went silent. You suddenly felt uneasy until the voice audibly sighed.

"Yes... I was. A long time ago. However, I never did anything to deserve something like this..."

"Well... what did you do then?" You were met with only silence. "Well. I understand if it is a sensitive subject but-"

"I said some things to a friend of mine. Something I shouldn't have."

"And so this... person? thing? Demon? Whoever... trapped you in here. For eons?"

"...Yeah? You don't sound so sure."

"Well no. I'm sorry but that doesn't sound like a reason to get thrown into prison."

"Alright alright. I may have... killed someone. But it was all an accident after all. But he wouldn't listen to me. And out of anger banished me here."

"Oh... sorry. So... who's he?"

"Boy... you are filled with nothing but questions and curiosity, huh? Tell you what..."

"Let's make a deal."
