You hear someone calling your name. You quickly hide the music box and place the medallion back around your neck.

"(Y/n)? Oh! There you are! Bill and I have been looking for you! Well, Bill was and I offered to help... but still...." You smile nervously. It was Dipper, he continued to talk a mile a minute about how he found you and blah blah blaaah. You glanced around, not exactly listening to him. You continued to just nod and hum in agreement like you were listening. You hadn't realized that Dipper caught onto your scheme until you snapped out of your thoughts.

"(Y/n)?? (Y/N)!! Hellooo!" Dipper waves a hand in front of your face before crossing his arms. You look at him wide eyed.

"Hm?"

"Were you even listening? What is up with you lately. It's like your hiding something... or at least trying to. You know you can talk to me right? I won't get mad like Bill would." You just shrugged.

"It's nothing really. I just... reallllyyyy like the forest you know? It's absolutely gorgeous out!" Dipper just raised an eyebrow.

"Uh-huh... well. Bill wants you back at the shack. He says he doesn't want you out of his sight until you tell him what's going on." Dipper notices the music box behind you by your feet. He tries not to draw attention to himself and inches closer to you. You notice him looking down. Maybe Bill told him something about the music box? Did Bill know about completely and that you had the possible means to open it? All you know is that Dipper now seems interested in it.

"Dipper? Why are you-?" He continues approaching you slowly. You quickly grab the music box and hold it to your chest in a protective manner. He puts his hands up slightly and speaks in a calm and quiet tone.

"(Y/n), trust me. There are things that you don't quite.... understand. Bill told me to make sure you don't get your hands on a box..."

"What 'things' don't I understand? How about you elaborate for me. Why is this so important to Bill?" Dipper takes another step closer.

"I'm not sure. But please. Whatever it is, Bill seems to fear it. And for him to fear something, it must be bad..." you take a step away from him shaking your head.

"No way! You'll.... I don't know... you might destroy it. It's beautiful, hypnotizing even. And I won't let you take that away!" Dipper stopped in his tracks.

"(Y/n)... please. Just... put it back and come back to the shack. We can all talk about this. We don't need to fight." You just shook your head.

"....no. As you've put it...." you're eyes grow cold and you frown. Dipper looks at you confused. "Trust no one." You pulled the medallion from around your neck and threw it on the ground. The portal opened and you immediately hopped through. Dipper bolted towards the portal.

"(Y/N)!! WAIT I-" he reached out but his voice was cut off as the portal closed. You looked down and saw the music box was missing. Could you not bring it into the portal? You put your hands back to your side and looked around. Yo decided to call out to the voice from before.

Dippers POV

I have to admit, that last sentence (y/n) said before... disappearing... kinda hurt. So this is how they have been going to a different dimension. I couldn't decide if I should tell Bill or not. I really want them to trust me, so I shouldn't. After all, they had made me promise not to tell Bill anything... but doesn't he already know? And why does he need to keep (y/n) away from that music box? There are too many questions that need to be answered.. and I don't know where or when (y/n) will come back from...wherever they are. I really want them to trust me... so I'll keep my mouth shut. Just this time. The minute anything happens that could be dangerous I'll tell Bill. If it's important, Bill can take care of it himself. Right?

(Meanwhile)

"Hey!! Are you still here?!" There was no response. You sighed and spoke under your breath "figures..." Suddenly you hear someone clicking their tongue.

"Now now honey. No need to get so feisty. What are you doing back here anyway?"

You spoke up clearly and in an angry tone. "I want answers. Now." The voice seems to cackle at your demand.

"And what answers are you looking for?" You think for a second.

"Why couldn't I bring the music box in here?" You could feel the being frown almost.

"The box has a sort of... spell... to put it in human terms that you'll understand. It can't go into other dimensions at all. No matter where or when you go. It can only exist in the time and dimension it is in now." You were still confused.

"Wait... so is it just on the ground now or... where is it?" The voice cackles.

"You're confusion amuses me, child. As of now, the music box exists and does not exist. It is both in your hands, and not. It is both real... and a figment of imagination." Your face contorts into a look of deeper confusion as you look at your hands.

"That...doesn't even make sense.." The voice's laughter echos.

"Oh, a lot of things won't make sense. But it will all come together eventually. You're a smart (preferred pronoun or PP). You'll figure it out...sooner or later."

You exit the portal and go to pick up the medallion. You notice the music box is still in your hands. You grab the medallion and place it back around your neck. It is practically pitch black now. You look at the music box, trying to figure out what you should do. Should you put it back so Bill can get it? Should you just take it back to the shack with you? You look around for an answer, and didn't quite find any. You sigh and see an old stump of a tree. there is a small gap between the ground and the base of the trunk. Your face lights up with hope and you fall to the stump and start digging. You made a big enough space under the stump to place the box in. You quickly cover it up with dirt and pat the ground to smooth it out. You nod, pleased with yourself. Before you began heading back to the shack. You struggled to find your way, the trees only lit by moonlight. You eventually make it to the shack. It was fairly quiet, so you assumed everyone was asleep. You slowly open the door, attempting not to make any sudden sound. You step in a quietly close the door behind you. You start to turn around and run right into Bill. You jump and let out a slight squeak of surprise. He has his arms crossed and an eyebrow raised as he looms over you. You shrink slightly and sweat nervously. "I-I see your arm is better now..." He doesn't seem very amused.
