The Pain ch.27

It's been a few weeks and today is the day of me and Lucas first date. As I fix my hair in the mirror, I check the time. Lucas should be here around 6:30. It's 6:20. I quickly finish getting ready and sit at the kitchen table and wait.

Its 7:00. Where is Lucas. I've called him but no response. Honestly I'm really worried when I see this number on the phone that I wish no one ever had to see.

"Hello." I say to the phone.

"Hello Veronica. We would like to inform you that Lucas got into an accident. He informed me to tell you to come right now."

"Oh My Gosh is he alright."

"Yes now hurry." Then the phone hangs up. As I grab my stuff to run out the door I think of how I'm going to get there. Crap. Well the only thing I can do is ask the neighbor. I run outside to his front porch. I ring the doorbell.

A few seconds later, "What do you want?!" He yells. When he recognizes me though, he stops immediately. "What happened?" He say.

"Can I barrow your car. My boyfriend just got in a car cash and...." I trail off. The tears start to stream done my face. He then chucks his keys at me.

"I need my car by midnight."

"Yes, thank you." I say running to the car and driving off.

I arrive at the hospital and go to the front desk. The lady shows me to Lucas's room. She also told me that he was driving (which was to come pick me up) and all the sudden this car came out of no where and hit him. When she tells me, the tears start up again.

I walk into his room and he's peacefully asleep. As I look at his body, scars are everywhere. His head is bruised and I can tell where it was bleeding. The nurse did tell me though that there is not wrong with him though.

I hold his hand as I watch his chest go up and down. I pray that he wakes up.
