"Well Gobber, here we are..." Kyle stated with a hint of nervousness as he stood at the front gates of the graveyard. Even though it was early in the morning and the sun should have been out, the graveyard was cloaked in what seemed like a cover of never-clearing fog that blocked most of the light being casted down onto them from above, making the atmosphere creepy to say the least as the nearby marsh made white streams of mist sweep throughout the area. "Familiars usually go into places like this first, right?"
"Blah!"Gobber grunted before giving Kyle a push forwards through the gate, and he slightly laughed to himself as he teased the small gremlin.
"Come on Gobber, it's not spooky at all. It's the start of our very first adventure!" Kyle said happily, picking up Gobber and lifting the gremlin up and onto his back before he ran through the entrance and traveled down the only stone pathway until he started approaching what looked like a large crypt in the center of the area. The structure appeared to be made out of granite with cobwebs makings sheet-like barriers that were draped between the four pillars at the entrance. Though as Kyle got closer, he realized that the crypt just seemed to be a single giant and empty room before he spotted a familiar figure standing at the entrance.
"So you made it on time... Better than your attempt yesterday, yes?" The cat man asked with a tone of humor.
"I'll try not to be late again Mr.-"
"Ah, we didn't introduce ourselves, did we?" The cat man laughed slightly to himself. "My name is Guisen Noyal, and I'll be one of your instructors during your stay with the guild. It's a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Grandell."
"Thank you, Mr. Noyal." Kyle bowed slightly in respect to the man.
"Ah, finally an applicant with manners." Noyal stated with another chuckle before turning and starting to walk inside of the empty crypt. "Oh, how I do hope that you will be able to enter the guild."
"Wasn't I accepted already?" Kyle asked in a worried tone.
"You were accepted, but in order to get to the guild, you will need to pass through this gate. As well as its keeper." Guisen explained.
"Its what now?" Kyle asked nervously before the ground started rumbling underneath his feet. And with an open mouth, Kyle watched in amazement as the floor of the crypt shattered while a giant hand rose from the ground. The hand smashed on the ground directly in front of Kyle and Gobber, using the surface as leverage for an even bigger stone golem to rise from the crypt. "You gotta be kidding me! Do I really have to fight this thing?!"
"Of course not, that would be suicidal!" Guisen laughed hysterically. "My apologies, young Grandell, I was merely playing a prank on you. The gatekeeper is here to open the portal to the guild, nothing more."
"N-not that it mattered. Gobber and I could have taken care of it, right Gobber." Kyle laughed nervously before turning as he finally noticed that the gremlin was gone from his back. "Gobber?"
"Gah!" Gobber yelled from almost clear across the graveyard, hiding behind one of the tombstones whiles shouting something that Kyle assumed were words of encouragement while it hid in relative safety.
"You little coward, did you really run away and leave me to die?!" Kyle asked, only just having thought that he'd made a friend a few hours ago only for the creature to abandon him completely now.
"You can't really blame him. Gremlins are cowardly by nature, after all." Guisen explained. "But enough of that, let's go through the portal so that you can meet the other applicants."
"Portal? You mean that this isn't the guild?" Kyle asked, having expected to see some kind of underground facility for one of the guild's branch offices at least.
