"The rules are this!" Guisen announced from on top of the balcony in the mansion's courtyard, which Kyle guessed doubled as the 'arena' that they had been talking about before. "The first years and the second years will both be in their separate groups. Each team will be limited to the basic summoning spell, and attacking the other team's summoners are off limits. The victor will be decided by the last minions on the field!"
"Why is there such a large crowd here?" Livana sighed, and Kyle had to admit that he was wondering the same thing as he looked around at the second story of the mansion to see that it was packed full of both other students as well as the teachers. Apparently, wearing black robes wasn't practiced almost at all while inside of the facility as everyone there was dressed in all manner of evil looking clothing, reminded Kyle once again that he really didn't belong there.
"Everyone, please cast your basic summoning spell now!" Guisen asked, and Kyle looked on in amazement as all of the second years seemed to chant together before what looked like a small disarrayed army appeared before them. There was every manner of creatures there, from harpies to to golems and giant lizards to spiders. Each other their opponents must have created at least three minions each, and Kyle gulped as he knew that they were going to lose. After all, he'd had so much trouble in only summoning a single familiar...
"Let's do this!" Morgan yelled. "Flame, be my sword!"
As Morgan yelled, the fire left his hands before gathering on the ground in front of him. And from the gathered flames, a humanoid figure arose with Kyle staring in amazement as what looked like a giant man covered in flames appeared in front of his classmate. Though, unfortunately there was only one of them.
"Poison, hear my call!" Livana yelled out, and Kyle was also surprised to see what looked like streams of water pouring from her hand before they gathered in five blobs in front of her, all of them standing on their own as Kyle finally realized that they were slimes, one of the weakest monsters the Kyle knew of.
"Slimes? Really?" Morgan laughed. "Is that really what you were so confident about?!"
"The type of monsters doesn't matter." Livana said angrily towards Morgan. "And I don't want to hear anything from the man who only managed to create one fire elemental."
"It's alone, but just like me, it can take on an entire army if it wants to." Morgan defended himself.
"Well that's good, because that's exactly what we're up against." Kyle laughed hesitantly.
"It's your turn, if you haven't noticed." Morgan stated while Kyle was attempting to gather the courage to make his attempt.
"Hurry up and let's go! I have better things to be doing on our last day off rather than just loitering here." Livana said impatiently.
"Alright... here it goes." Kyle said under his breath while he sent magic to his hand. Supposedly, as he attempted to touch the ground at his feet now, words would automatically come to his head so that he knew which chant to use. Though if that was just another side effect of the mind control that they had attempted to play on him earlier, who knew? Thankfully however, as Kyle reached down to touch the floor, the words did come into his head. He just hoped that they were the right ones.
"Servants, gather before me!" Kyle yelled, holding his hand out in front of him and praying that at least something happened so that he wouldn't look like an absolute idiot in front of everyone. If he proved that he was weak now in front of people like this, he had no doubt that the next year would be absolutely horrible, filled with bullying and laughter at his expense. That was, if he survived past the first month. He didn't know what the facility's rules about killing people were, but seeing as everyone here was a potential dark lord, Kyle thought that his chances were slim. However, strangely enough, Kyle saw that something was actually happening as his shadow underneath him seemed to stretch forward at a rapid pace before enveloping almost a quarter of the courtyard. After only a second's delay, he was even more surprised to see that several humanoid figures appeared to be crawling out of the ground wherever his shadow stretched as the creatures were summoned. They remained cloaked in complete darkness until they were finally out of the ground and the shadow uncovered them, revealing an astounding number of thirteen new gremlins and five creatures that Kyle thought for sure were goblins. A few of the gremlins had horrible looking bows and the goblins all had small wooden shields and short swords while everything else either had daggers or clubs, but Kyle didn't care how they were all equipped. Right now, he was just amazed that he'd managed to summon anything at all.
