"Are you really sure that I can't just stay in here and practice until the day's over?" Kyle almost pleaded, though Guisen didn't appear to be breaking under the pressure at all.
"Mr. Grandell, I've already told you that the students and teachers are competing against each other as well. You and I may one day have a battle of our own, and would you really want me knowing what you can do simply because you practiced in front of your opponent?"
"At least until I can actually defend myself!" Kyle yelled back.
"Come now, it won't be that bad." Guisen assured Kyle. "While they've been trained by their parents, most students here find summoning to be more of a chore than a profession, and you'll most likely find that many of them are weaker than you are. Even now."
"All I have is Gobber though, and you saw how he ran away from the gate keeper." Kyle cried.
"Just use the basic summoning that I taught you and you should be fine." Guisen stated while pushing Kyle towards the door. And despite several protests, Kyle soon found himself pushed out of the class room and the door shut behind him. And as he looked around, he was surprised to see that reality was even worse than his mind had portrayed his fears to be as he was met by a crowd of evilly grinning students.
"Hey, are you the new kid who claimed in front of his entire class that we'd all be praising your name?" A short and round guy with red hair asked with his ten friends behind him all snickering. And despite his fear, Kyle knew that if he backed down from his previous arrogant attitude now, things would only be worse for him once everyone found out that he was actually weak.
"I believe I've already stated my name and told people to remember it." Kyle stated with as evil of grin as he could. "But unfortunately, I don't have time to waste in punishing trash. So why don't all of you go and find a beetle or something if you want to lose so badly. I have other things to do."
"What the heck did you just say?!" The red headed guy shouted angrily while puffing up his chest, though neither he or his friends added up to a single Brandon even if they all somehow merged together, so Kyle didn't flinch at all before casually taking a step closer to his aggressor.
"I told you to get lost." Kyle stated threateningly, hoping beyond hope that they wouldn't notice the cold sweat that his skin was building up. "Don't make me repeat myself again."
"Y-You..." The guy's face turned almost as red as his hair, and thankfully Kyle's act seemed to be working as none of his aggressors seemed nearly as confident as when they had first surrounded him.
"Well isn't this interesting." A familiar voice laughed from down the hall, and Kyle's slight hope of escaping completely crumbled as he saw that Morgan was walking in their direction. "Do you idiotic failures really think that you can just come down here and have easy prey?"
"They can't handle their own class, so they have to come down here to fight the freshmen." Kyle looked in absolute horror now as Livana came walking towards them from the opposite end of the hallway, completely trapping Kyle with no escape in sight save for perhaps a quick jump out of the third story window.
"Y-you guys are just freshmen, you're nothing compared to us!" The red haired guy yelled, though between Kyle and the two new arrivals, the entire group started huddling closely together as if it were to provide some sort of protection.
"This is really interesting! For everyone who had enough confidence to speak up in class today to meet here, it's destiny that we battle!" Morgan said happily.
"As mush as I'd love to shut you up here and now, I just need to get past everyone right now." Livana sighed before stopping in front of the group of second years. "So get out of my way."
"An elf dares think that it can speak to a human that way?!" The red-haired guy yelled out angrily as he held out his right hand, which started glowing instantly. "I'll show you your place!"
"Let's get this battle started!" Morgan yelled out with laughter as flames started shooting from his own hands.
"I will teach you that elves are superior to humans in every way!" Livana yelled out as well, with her own hands emitting the lime-green vapors from before.
'I'm going to die!' Kyle's voice yelled out in his thoughts. Though his outwards appearance didn't show any signs of fear as his hands turned completely black while he focused his magic on them, preparing to use the basic summoning spell that Guisen had just taught him. Though if it worked now, that it would be Kyle's first ever successful basic summoning after a long and painful streak of failures until he'd finally summoned Gobber. However, even if his expectations weren't high now, Kyle needed it to work as he saw all of the second years begin to summon their own creatures as well.
"If you are going to have a battle as large as this, then take it to the arena!" Guisen's voice suddenly snapped, cracking the tension in the air as if it were ice as everyone turned towards him. "If you don't then I'll deal with all of you myself."
"I'd rather just call it off completely. I don't have the time to waste on these guys." Kyle sighed while keeping up his 'arrogant dark lord candidate' act. Though on the inside he was silently praising Guisen.
"I agree. If they wish to battle, these morons can do it with their own class." Livana followed up, and Kyle started to feel as if he could actually avoid a fight before Morgan opened his mouth.
"What the heck are you two saying, this is a perfect chance to wipe away a large group of rivals at the same time!" Morgan yelled with his deep voice and fairly frightening appearance making Kyle think that this man actually was going to be the next dark lord. "If you two wont do it, then I'll take them all out by myself!"
"Mr. Noyal, can we ask for an official group duel?" The red haired guy asked towards Guisen. "They've insulted our honor, and I'd like to officially challenge them!"
"Well, if it's an official challenge, I suppose there's no choice." Guisen chuckled to himself, and Kyle looked at his betrayer in shock.
"So our opinions or buisness don't matter at all then?" Kyle tried to seem angry.
"Whatever, let's just go and get this over with quickly." Livana sighed herself, and suddenly Kyle felt as if he didn't have any vote in this at all. His nervousness was only doubled when Morgan walked up close to him and stared down at Kyle with an evil smile.
"It looks like I'll get to see what your made of sooner rather than later. Don't disappoint me." Morgan said while chuckling to himself, though Kyle didn't find anything funny about it at all. In fact, he was currently having a hard time in remembering how to breath again.
