31: Better Man

3rd Person's POV

    Hongbin couldn't look at her straight. The emotions in her eyes were too much for him to bear. How can he possibly look at her when she looks at him like a murderer. He gulped and let her absorb what he said.

   Taeyeon ordered me to. These words keep on repeating in her head. It echoed in her mind and it's too hard to digest.

"I was still with Suzy." Hongbin starts, "She was still my yeojin that time."

    Yunji looks up to him and she reads pain and remorse in his face. Hongbin suddenly scoffed and shakes his head. He can't believe this. He's walking down memory lane just to have Yunji's trust back. What the hell is wrong with him?

"Like you, Nayeon was a charmer. Sweet, kind, talented and smart. Eveyrone liked her. Except for Taeyeon, ofcourse. She hates Nayeon so much she came to me." Hongbin flinched remembering Taeyeon's threat to him. How her words made him fear her even for a second. How a small girl made him tremble.

"She said: scare Nayeon. I could never do that. Nayeon was a kind person to me. She helped me whenever I needed her and she's never let me down. I refused Taeyeon and kept on avoiding her ever since." Hongbin picks up a plastic spoon and plays with it, smiling bitterly to himself. Yunji's eyes magnet to the spoon.

"S-she... She told me to rape Nayeon. She said it in a way she would literally blow off if I decline. I'm not a fool, Yunji. I would never hurt a girl because I was scared of Taeyeon." his eyes meet Yunji's and the way her heart pounds when that happens, she closed her eyes and looked back down on her fingers. Questions started flooding in her mind again.

"Than what? Why did you still do it? Did you have fun? Is that why? So you can pleasure yourself?" Yunji's voice was shaking. She and Hongbin were in the same room, alone. She doesn't want to feel scared of him but now she is. She feels like she's gonna end up like Nayeon. They're right. She doesn't know Hongbin well.

    Hongbin took in a harsh breath and threw the plastic spoon to the wall, making Yunji flinch in shock. She quickly turns to Hongbin, who looks like she maddened. Hongbin grits his teeth and his breathing ragged.

"What do you think of me, seriously? Do I look like some needy teenager to you? " Hongbin meets her eyes and she feels her heart race. The fear in her bones reach to her veins and it makes her sober up. Hongbin narrows his eyes at her and observes her expression.

"Are you actually scared of me right now? What? Because I might do it to you? That you thought you knew me but yet I'm a monster?" Hongbin balled his fists and tried to keep his temper. Yunji gulped and doesn't say a word.

"I thought you were my friend..." Hongbin scoffed, "You look at me like how all of them do." He shot her a dagger look, "Like how V does."

    She looks away and heaved a sigh.

"You're the one to talk." she sneered, "May I remind you you're at fault here?" she finally meets his glare. Hongbin's eyes darkened upon her statement.

"Which is why I'm trying to make amends!" he raised his voice unconsciously. He takes in a deep breath before looking at her sternly.

"Taeyeon had Suzy kidnapped." Hongbin heaved. Yunji froze on her seat and her eyeballs nearly falling from their sockets.
