After I got home, I saw my roommates Meredith Grey and Izzie Stevens sitting on the couch and watching a movie. As soon as they noticed me, they started grilling me with a bunch of questions.
"George, where were you?" Meredith asked.
"Out."
"With who?"
"I know who he was out with. Alex's little sister."
"You were out with Lara Karev? Do you have a death wish, George?"
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"If Alex finds out, he won't hesitate to kill you with his bare hands."
"I'm not afraid of Alex. But I'm tired and a little drunk, and I think it's time for me to go to bed."
I stumbled to my room and flopped down on the bed.
-Lara's POV-
After I woke up and drank some coffee, I decided to call George.
"Hello?" he said.
"Hey George."
"Hey,  Lara."
"What happened last night?"
"You got drunk and tried to have sex with me."
"Oh no, did I? I'm sorry, George."
"It's okay. I just think we should try going to a place with no alcohol next time." I laughed.
"Are you saying you want to go out with me again?"
"Yeah, of course. If that's okay with you?"
"Yeah, it's more than okay. In fact, I'd like to start over. Last night didn't go as well as I'd planned."
"Okay, but the only time I'm available is today or next weekend." I sighed.
"That's fine. Oh, wait... I have another call coming in."
"Okay, bye Lara."
I answered the other call, and it was my brother.
"Hey Alex!"
"Hey, Lara. I tried coming by your apartment last night, but you weren't there. Where were you?" he asked.
Oh no, what am I going to tell him?
"I was, uh... out."
"Out where? With who?"
"At Joe's, with George."
"You guys went out on a date? Why didn't you tell me?"
"Because every time I tell you about my dates, you always freak out."
"That's because I never like the guys you go out with. You have terrible taste in men."
"Well, what about George? You don't like him either, how's he any different?"
"I may not like him, but he's a good person. He's an idiot who makes a lot of mistakes, but his heart's just as big as yours. He cares about his patients more than anyone I know, and I think he might be good for you. Just don't tell him I told you all this, okay?"
"You got it, big bro... and thank you."
"You're welcome. I'll see you at work tomorrow."
"Yep, see ya."
I hung up and put my phone down on the bedside table, then I decided to get dressed for the day. I put on a black t-shirt and some ripped blue jeans, then I put my socks and shoes on. I decided to call George back to see if he wants to go out to breakfast with me.
"Miss me already?" he asked.
"Yeah, something like that. Uh, do you want to go to breakfast with me?" I asked.
"Yeah, sure. Where at?"
"I'm in the mood for McDonald's. Is that okay?"
"Yeah, that's fine." he agreed.
"Okay, I'll meet you there then."
"Alright, see you there."
I hung up on him and put my phone in my pocket. I grabbed my keys and my purse, then I walked out and locked the door behind me. I got in my blue PT Cruiser and drove over to McDonald's. George was already there in his dark green Subaru Outback, so I parked and walked over to him.
"Hey, are you ready to eat?"
I put my arm around his shoulders.
"Yes, I'm starving."
We walked into McDonald's and waited in line. After we got up there, we ordered our food and drinks.
"I'll have a chocolate chip frappe and a bacon, egg and cheese biscuit." I said.
"Make mine a big breakfast and an orange juice, please." he said.
I paid them the twenty-two dollars and sixty-seven cents, and they handed me a receipt with our number on it.
After we got our food, we sat down at a table and ate together.
"I can't believe you paid for it." George said.
"Well, the guy doesn't have to pay for all the dates. Plus, I think I owe you after what happened last night."
"Yeah, you kinda do." he laughed.
"I thought you would say that." I laughed as well.
"You know, you look even better now than you did last night."
"No, I don't. I'm still a little hungover, and I didn't even have a chance to shower this morning."
"Well, I guess you've always looked great to me. I've seen you worse than this, but you still looked beautiful."
"George, why do you have to be so charming all the time?"
"It's a gift and a curse."
"Well, I talked to my brother today." I told him.
"Oh, really? What about?"
"He told me not to tell you this, but he thinks you're a good person. He still doesn't like you, but he thinks you're good for me."
"Really? What else did he say?"
"He also said you're an idiot who makes a lot of mistakes, but your heart's just as big as mine."
"Oh, that's nice." he scoffed.
"He also says that you care about your patients more than anyone he knows."
"You should see me when it comes to the people I really care about."
I grabbed his firm hand and squeezed it gently, and he looked into my eyes.
I leaned in closer until our faces were just an inch apart, and I could see the sparkle in his bright blue eyes.
"You have beautiful eyes, George." I chuckled softly.
"So do you. The softest color of brown I've ever seen." he deeply sighed.
I leaned in closer for a kiss, and our lips finally met. He and I fit so well together, it's like we were made for this. Like we were made to go together.
