❌TRIGGER WARNING❌
I was able to get a closer look, and it was my ex Eric Helmsley.
"Oh no.."
I quickly hid behind George, and he must've seen him too, because he grabbed onto my hand.
"Ah, George... have you seen Lara anywhere?"
"No, I sure haven't. And even if I did, I don't think she'd want to be bothered with you or by you."
He glared at him.
"Well, whatever. If you see her, let her know I came by."
He walked off, and I came out of hiding.
"That's it, I can't do this."
"What do you mean?"
"It's bad enough I saw him in Ireland, and now... he's decided to follow me to Seattle?"
"I doubt he's followed you here."
"Really, George?"
"Yeah, you're probably right."
"What am I going to do?"
"Does he know where you live?"
"Yes. I've lived in that same apartment for years."
"Why don't I come and stay with you for awhile?"
"George, I don't think that's-"
"I'll protect you, Lara. I promise."
"No, George. I have to learn to protect myself. You're not always going to be there to keep me safe, and-"
"Well, I can certainly try."
"It's okay, George. I have to learn how to fight for myself." I told him.
"Okay, but if you ever need any help-"
"I know where to find you."
I put my hand on his shoulder and gave him a kiss on the cheek, then I walked away.
I'm tired of living in fear, and I've never been able to really stand up for myself after I dated Eric. He completely ruined my confidence and self-esteem, and I have to start building those things back up on my own.
I walked into one of the O.R.s with Lukas, and he smiled at me.
"Good to see you again, love. It's been awhile."
"Yes, it certainly has."
I gave him a friendly smile in return.
"Where have you been?"
"On vacation with George."
"Oh, that's great. How'd that go?"
"Pretty good, until a few days later."
"What happened?"
"It's a long story. I'll tell you about it later."
"Alright then."
He just shrugged it off, and we continued to work together.
I looked back towards the window, and Eric walked by.
I ducked my head down and tried to finish the surgery as quickly as possible without hurting the patient.
"What's the matter, Lara?" Lukas asked me.
"Nothing." I sighed heavily.
"You look like you've seen a ghost. Why don't you scrub out? I can take it from here."
I walked away to scrub out, and I tried to get out as quickly as possible so Eric didn't see me.
"Hey, Lara!" he hollered from the other side of the hallway.
I tried to just walk away, but he stopped me by grabbing my wrist.
"Where do you think you're going, sweetheart?" he whispered in my ear.
"Just leave me alone, Eric."
"I've missed you, Lara."
He grabbed me by my arm and pulled me into an empty room, then he locked the door.
"W-what are you doing?"
He grabbed me by the arms and pulled me down onto the floor.
He got on top of me, and I struggled to get out from underneath of him.
"Eric, please don't-"
"I love it when you beg and cry, baby doll."
He basically ripped my clothes from my body, and I tried to keep him away.
"Come on, don't act like that. I know you want it."
He pried my legs open and pushed himself inside me, hard. I let out a cry of pain, and he pinned my arms down. I tried to kick him, but he had my legs pinned too, somehow.
"Eric, please stop..."
I realized there was nothing I could do now... just like before.
"You know you like it, Lara." he growled in my ear.
I heard someone knock on the door, and I decided to cry out for help.
"Shut the fuck up, Lara!"
He put his hand over my mouth, and I bit down.
Luckily, someone came in by unlocking the door with their keys, and I was saved.
They grabbed Eric by the collar of his shirt and pulled him off of me. I looked up, and it was Dr. Shepherd.
I stood up slowly, and I don't think I've ever been in this much pain in my life.
"Lara, are you alright?"
"I am now. Thank you, Dr. Shepherd, you saved my life."
"Don't you even think about leaving, you dirty bastard. I'm calling the police, and you're going away for a long time."
Once I got myself together, I walked out of the hospital and cried by myself. It started to rain, and I felt a warm hand on my shoulder.
"Are you okay?"
It was Dr. Shepherd again.
I turned towards him to give him a hug, and this is the safest I've felt in a long time.
