What I Need... (GxG)

First Impressions?

Today is day one of my new job as a secretary at Flora Living and I can't tell if I'm nervous or excited or both. 

I've been out of a job for so long and have been crashing with my friend, Alex and while she been my best friend since birth I'm starting to feel like a mooch. So finally with this job and can get standing on my own two feet and be out of Alex's hair. 

"Drew, you ready yet? " 

Alex's head popped into the bathroom that I had been in. 

When I stopped applying brown lip liner for a second to look at her and give her sheepish smile she dramatically groaned. 

"Drew! You have been in this bathroom for like 2 hours now! Get out already, you can't be late on your first day."

"Ugh! Don't you think I know that? But I also can't look ugly on my first day either"

"Oh, what are you trying to allure your boss? and on the first day?! Drew Sol Garcia, I must say that I am shocked at your forwardness " 

Even though I was not looking at Alex I could practically hear the smirk on her lips and the roaring laughter that was about to spill from them.

Alex knows as well as everyone else that know one has met the CEO. Apparently she valued her privacy too much to even entertain the media

"Alex, you're hopeless. I don't even know her... for all I know she might be some posh old white women."

Alex choked between her fits of laughter, " you'd... probably... still... eat-"

"Yuck! Alex! Shut up, that is gross" I shivered at the thought

I knew Alex was joking, of course, being one of California's top celebrities she often encontered the "elite" and was also unsettled by their disillusioned detachment from the rest of the world.

" Oh calm down! I guess the saying you are what you eat still applies" She had begun to walk out of the bathroom when she muttered under her breath 

"-ssy"

"What did you say Alex? I didn't quite catch that?" I raised an eyebrow at her

" ugh nothing" she grumbled "Just hurry up so we can go

About 10 minuets later, I was standing at the front door of our apartment ready to go. 

Alex was grabbing her keys when she saw me.

"Finally! " She paused and gave me a once over "Oh-kaaaay so all that time spent actually went somewhere. You look really nice, D. I hope your boss feels the same" 

I rolled my eyes and walked ahead of her to the car

The drive to the Flora Living, building of operations, wasn't too long, but I'd probably take the bus back home to spare Alex the ride.

"Good luck, D! Knock 'em dead."

Alex stopped her car in the front entrance and gave me a squeeze on my thigh. I smiled at the gesture and remembered that tiny fling we had in highschool that we ended because we realized we were way better as friends. Time and feelings had past but she'll always hold a place in my heart.

"Thanks" I took a deep breath and gave Alex a quick hug before I walked out of the car and steeped inside the grand building.

I saw Alex pull away just as I reached the front desk. 

I must have zoned out because the the desk attendant , with a bored tone asked 

"Is there anything I could help you with?" 

Shaken by her cold tone, but regaining my calm composure 

"I'm the new secretary for Ms.Parrish"  

"Oh?" was all she said as she continued to give me a once over

She snuffed and stood up from her desk 

"Well, follow me then. Please don't dally. Ms.Parrish loathes tardiness"

I inwardly groaned. From the vibe of this- my new workplace and the little she's heard about Ms.Parrish she sounded like a snob. I didn't have room to complain though, the pay was amazing.

It seemed as if they had been on this elevator for ever when they finally reached the 100th floor.

The attendant motioned for me to walk out first. So I did and took in the grand hallway and the ornate door in front of me. 

The attendant knocked and said 

"Ms.Parrish , the new secretary Ms.Garcia is here." 

From behind the door a deep voice sounded. Much deeper than I had expected.

" Well, don't be shy, my door is open" 

When I turned the attendant was gone and a shiver ran down my spine. 

I took a deep breath and turned the knob to face my future.
