Chapter 13

I hum to some music in the kitchen as i make up some breakfast, Jae and Anna took off to work and left Jess with us. Mark is fast asleep; as usual, so i have Jess playing with lego on the floor of the kitchen. Carefully stepping over her little contraption, i grab some milk and turn up the volume as the radio plays another catchy song.

"Aunt Hyunie" Jess calls out the nickname she made for me, i look down at her as i stir my coffee "yes love?" She pouts "i'm hungry" she says in an irresistibly cute tone. I pick her up by the under of her arms and place her on the counter "got anything special mum cooks for you?" She nods "pancakes" her doe like eyes stare back at me with want and hope.

My heart melts at how cute she is "lucky for you, i made some" i place a pancake on a little plate and pour a decent amount of syrup on it and take it to the coffee table along with mark and i's plates. "Auntie! I'm stuck on the counter!" She yells from the kitchen. I laugh as i make my way into the kitchen and carry her back into my arms and take her up stairs.

"Lets go wake up mark" She smiles eagerly when i say this and jumps in my arms excited. I chuckle, pushing the door open a smile creeps its way up my face when i see him cuddled up, hair a messy nest and a peaceful look on his face.

I put jess on the bed and move closer to his face "babe.." i whisper, he doesn't move. "Uncle mark" jess sits on his chest and calls out to him. He groans and opens his eyes "oh, hey there beautiful" a grin spreads onto his face when he sees jessica. I smile as i watch him lift her off him and into the air, her giggles slicing through the once quiet room.

I smile at them, he really is going to make a great father some day..

My stomach suddenly churns, making me feel extremely uncomfortable "shit.." mark stops playing with jessica to look at me "something wrong?" I shake my head and rush to the bathroom.

I hear footsteps approach the bathroom as i spill my previous meals into a toilet bowl. I flush the tank and sit on the cold floor, my back against the tiled wall.

Mark squats down to my height and looks at me "is everything okay?" He frowns "yeah, i ate that stupid sandwich at the gas station last night so my stomach is kinda funny feeling" i smile as i look up at him.

"Okay then, where is everyone else?" I stand up and lean over the sink as i grab a toothbrush and begin to brush my teeth. "Work" i say, careful not to spit out toothpaste.

Mark comes up behind me and hugs me, leaning his chin on my shoulder "We're leaving in a few days.." i hum "and?" He smiles "i had something in mind.." i rinse my mouth and turn to face him "and that is..?" I place my hands on the sink behind me for support.

"Once i think it over i'll consider telling you" he kisses my nose and walks out.

I shake my head with a smile, "come on jess" i motion for her to follow me.

"Are you dressed?" Anna pops up behind me with a huge smile on her face. I chuckle "yeah, totally" i return her bubbly smile. "So i uhm.. drove past school the other day" i raise a brow "and?" I nudge.

"Nothing, just thought i should tell you" she smiles and sits on my bed. She's just about to say something when jae walks in "An, can we talk...? This is important" Anna nods and walks out, her wine coloured, silk evening gown swaying slightly behind her.

"You dressed?" Mark walks out from the bathroom, a towel wrapped around his waist and another one in-hand he's using to dry his hair with. "Yeah, this dress really does bring out my eyes" I admit to his previous fact from yesterday when he picked it out.
