Comparing.
That is all we do with our lives.
We just need to be better than that person.
Or
Well they did this, so that means I can do this.
We compare our pain to others, when no pain can be rightfully compared.
They're drowning in an ocean,
While you are drowning in six feet of water.
Things are so bad for you.
No.
That's not how it works.
Drowning in six feet of water is drowning now the less.
Being tired is being tired.
Whether you got eight hours of sleep or two.
We hold ourselves in constant competition with others.
Despite hating our pain, we still casually say our pain is worse than others.
We don't even have to think about it.
It seems like we are showing off.
Because we are.
Human beings are a naturally competitive species.
Competition is competition, whether or not it's good or bad we still like to win.
"I got eight hours of sleep last night and I still feel horrible."
"I doubt you feel as bad as me."
Yes, maybe my body is functioning a bit better than yours, but that doesn't stop the weight that is constantly on my shoulders.
My exhaustion is just as deep and never ending as yours.
But you can't see that,
Because I'm a better actor.
