Janey pulled outher desk chair, sat and said, seriously: "How do I find the truthabout dragons in this world. Is there any literature that will tellme who they really were or are? I'm pretty sure fairy tales paintyou all badly."
"The ancientfairy tales were mostly penned by Christian Monks extolling thedangers of the old pagan religions. Their stories were allegories. However many modern writers have a clearer view. As you are fond ofscience fiction and fantasy, I would start with the Pern stories ofAnne McCaffery. Although her dragons were only one speciesgenetically modified, they are very true of real European styledragons."
"How manyspecies are there?"
"Nearly ahundred, some I couldn't begin to describe to you as Earth humanshave no reference."
"You say 'Earthhumans' as though there are humans in other parts of the universe."
"Not exactlylike you but the base genome is very wide spread. Your basicconfiguration is very adaptable."
"So there isintelligent life on other planets?"
"Yes, mostlyvery nice people, as humans are mostly nice people but there areraces that are as cruel and evil as any of your space monster movies. Why do you suppose that most humans have some aversion to reptiles?"
"It can't berace memory from the dinosaur days, they were all gone before theNeanderthals came."
"Correct. It isbecause a reptilian life form helped create your Cro-Magnon man andthey were cruel about it."
"So it is racialmemory but not what the scientists think."
"Correct."
"OK ... so,where do we go from here?"
"Do what youmust for the rest of this day and when it is time to sleep, you and Iwill be taking a journey."
"A journey? Howcan I go anywhere with you when you aren't ... substantial?"
"You have theability to leave your body behind and travel with me in spirit."
"You'retalking about astral projection?"
"Yes, your kindcalls it that."
"Well, firstthere's homework, then dinner and family time."
"One thing youwill learn very quickly about dragons, as we are immortal, we arevery patient."
Janey's stomachgrowled loudly. "First there is snack."
Zelistuck onlychuckled as Janey headed for the kitchen.
"Mom, when issupper?"
"Late tonight,Dad won't be home until seven so supper is seven fifteen."
"Then Idefinitely need a snack. Any suggestions?"
"Please eat abanana and have a glass of milk. There are too many bananas for me tomake banana bread ... we'd be eating it for two months."
"That wouldn'tbother me; I love your banana bread."
Returning to herroom, Janey couldn't see Zelistuck but had a feeling she was stillthere. She got to her homework then worked on her science fairproject until her father was home. Dinner and a movie afterward butZelistuck appeared on the television case and told her, mentally, they needed to get started if she was to be home in time for school.Janey yawned expansively and bid her parents goodnight.
In her room, aftershe was ready for bed, Janey told Zelistuck she was too excited to besleepy.
"What book doyou own that is boring enough to make you sleepy?"
"I love JaneAustin but she's also boring. I think it's the old Englishlanguage and speech patterns. They take ten words to say what I cansay in three."
"Get in bed,get cozy and I will read ... Pride and Prejudice to you. You will beasleep quickly then we can leave."
"You can readEnglish?" Janey was shocked.
"I know everyhuman language on this planet and I can read any book you can thinkof ... and I won't touch the physical book."
"Then how canyou read it?"
"Everythingthat exists in your dimension of reality exists at higher levelsfirst. All creation is thought, emotion, and then materialization."
Janey crawled intobed and got comfortable while thinking about the last thing Zelistucksaid.
"I understandthat concept of creativity, but I think the passion to create comesbefore the thought. I have a passion to build, sculpt, paint or drawsomething before I know what I'm going to do to make it reality."
"Yes, butbefore the passion comes the idea to create; either something yousee, or experience in any way gives you a subconscious inspirationthen the passion makes you plan out how to make it reality."
"Ok ... now Iget it."
"Of course youdo, you are very wise, Janey. Now settle down and listen ..."
Zelistuck beganthe book. Her voice was sweet and when conversations came into playshe could change her voice a little, as Janey did, to make it easierto follow who was talking, but there was a soft music to Zelistuck'svoice and Janey was asleep before Zelistuck had "read" ten pages.
Pride andPrejudice blended into Janey rolling out of bed and sitting at itsedge.
She was fullyawake, energized, yet she felt different ... lighter.
"Turn yourhead, Janey, look where you were lying." Zelistucksuggested.
Janey turned tosee her own body sleeping soundly. Oddly enough, it didn't freakher out, and she wondered why she wasn't freaked out.
"Because youdream walk all the time." Zelistucktold her.
"I do? Hey,you're reading my thoughts!"
"I've beendoing that your entire life, Janey. I told you, I am your guide forthis incarnation. I have been beside you since before you were born."
"Then why waituntil I was 14 to appear?"
"You areprogressing on your chosen path but not fast enough for what you needto know when a critical event for your planet occurs. To step up yourlearning, the council decided we needed to intervene."
"The council?"
"There is acouncil of very ancient dragons who get their instructions straightfrom the Source of all Creation and they pass it on to the rest ofus, including the dragons in flesh, like you."
"Wait ... yousaid I was dragon kin you didn't say I was a dragon, myself."
"When a dragontakes on flesh, we refer to them as kin, because the physics ofmaterial worlds may prevent you from shifting, as it does on Earth, but in spirit you are not first 'human' first you are a dragon."
Janey was stunnedfor a moment as she watched German Shepherd sized Zelistuck growbefore her eyes to the size of a small pony.
"Climb on myback, here between my shoulders and my neck. We're going places!"Zelistucksaid cheerfully.
