CHAPTER SIXTEEN

     Lucy felt someone tap her shoulder, her dream faded and she opened her eyes to be blinded by her lights. Haruka was standing beside her bed, a phone in her hand and her hair down. She sat up on her bed and rubbed her arm, the bruises on her body were sore and she knew her body would be slow. 

"What is it?" She asked her step-sister. She noticed that Haruka hadn't said anything rude nor has the step-monster burst into the room, the room was silent for a few munites before Haruka wrapped Lucy in an unexpected hug. Tears wetting her shoulder and her sobs filled the room.

"Jude was shot, your father was shot." She cried out, Lucy froze.  Her heart stopped. Everything blurred and her entire body shook, tears forming in her eyes. She broke away from the hug and shook her head. 

"N-no yo-you're lying." She spoke up, Haruka shook her head. The air grew thicker and Lucy found it hard to breathe.

"He was shot, the driver was killing at the scene-"

"How about my dad! Is he ok!" Haruka shut her mouth and backed away refusing to meet her eyes. Lucy felt the air in her chest release and she stood up from the bed to fall on the wooden floor, Haruka knelt down.

"Leave, just go!" Lucy screamed. Haruka closed the door as she left, Lucy covered her mouth suppressing the sobs. She shut her eyes tightly, holding her heart. 

"You're all I have left Lucy." Her father had said as she jumped into his arms after the accident. She remembered how torn he was, how he involved himself in his work every day. She remembered the way he danced with her on the day he married Vanessa. 

"You'll still be my main priority." Yet everything changed. He changed, but Lucy felt like her entire world crumbled. 

"You're all I had left dad." She whispered as her tears fell on the wooden floor.

   Vanessa was leaning on the wall next to Lucy's room, her husband's wedding picture hanging on the wall. His former wife smiling brightly as she held onto the arm of a young Jude Heartfillia. Haruka was crying in the living room, yet Lucy's stood out from her own daughter's. She had remembered the words Jude had told her before they got married. 

"I am merely doing this to strengthen my own family," By family, she knew he had meant the Star Gang. " Do not expect to have any physical contact, I just hope you care for my daughter as if she were your own. If something were to happen to me, care for her please." The emotion in his eyes had been something she never saw in a grown man. 

She was a terrible woman to Lucy and she realized that as she heard her cries, she stood up from the wall and reached for the golden doorknob in front of her. Yet she didn't have the guts nor the heart to open it. 

"Are you my new mom?" She looked down to look into the eyes of a lovely girl. 

"No, you can call me Vanessa." She had answered the young girl. 

"Every woman would want to marry Jude!" Her mother had screamed in her face once Jude had proposed. "Get your head out of the stars, you marry him!" 

"Don't think that he wants you for you Vanessa, this marriage will benefit him." Her brother had told her the day of her wedding right before Jude had spoken to her. 

Vanessa retracted her hand and backed away from the door. Her own tears falling down on her pale cheeks, she covered her mouth and walked into her room. Curling up into Jude's side of the bed. 

"Will you ever love me?" Vanessa had asked him on their honeymoon, they were laying on two separate beds. She wore a diamond ring, while he wore his old wedding ring. HIs calloused fingers traced his wive's engraved name. 

"No." He had answered.

It was quite hard killing off Jude, I didn't want Lucy to lose anyone else. My sister had told me this choice would be good, yet my cousin had said that it was a terrible idea. So I sort of played a song and just channeled everything into this chapter. The way it turned out was meant to be.
