CHAPTER NINETEEN 

Lucy walked into the quiet mansion, her mind clouded with various thoughts. She had said she'd visit her father, but her heart was pained at just the thought of seeing him in his current state. The image of her father's pained face once she would inform her of Loke's betrayal was something she never wanted to experience. Her black heels clicked as she walked across the marble floor to the staircase, but something caught her eye as her hand reached for the rail.

Stepping towards the small glass table that was in the middle of the large opening between the entrance to the living room and the stairs. A note addressed to her laid there, untouched and unopened. Something quickly caught her eye and she shifted to the side, immediately a knife swerved her way. A man wearing a dark mask looked at her and two more came out of the living room holding her stepmother and stepsister.

"We were informed that you'd ditch the hospital and would come here, how lucky are we that you sent most of your posse to watch that useless man." The voice was rough and it was as if the man behind the mask was a smoker.

Lucy saw Vanessa's eyes, the fear in them and the worry. A bruise was slowly forming on her right cheek, mascara smeared from either crying or from sweating. Haruka looked calmer and put together a small gash on her left cheek and a bruised arm. She looked as if she'd accepted her fate. That was something Lucy had in common with the red-haired girl, she would embrace death if it came sooner than expected. 

"How sad would it be if you lost these two right in front of you?" The man spoke up, walking towards Lucy with the knife, it was then that something cold touched the back of her head, a click echoed throughout the mansion.

"Loke took the fall, along with the kid. Our boss knew he was growing soft, a bit too soft for the job to get done. Now that the Star gang is split up into two, it's easier to take it down." Another voice spoke up, a woman with dark hair walked down the staircase. A photo in her hand, she smiled widely and threw it down in front of Lucy. The glass cracked and Lucy could see her mother and brother smiling up at her.

"When we kill these two and then you, it'll send a nice message to the other gang. Jude is weak enough and we already have a group sent there, it'll be quiet and quick. We needed a diversion and you saying Loke was the mole was all part of the plan. Pretty cool right?" The man continued with a slight chuckle.

"I hope you don't mind one more maid being killed." The woman whispered snapping her fingers, a loud thump echoed and Lucy felt her heart stop. Virgo was sprawled on the floor, throat was torn out, eyes opened. "Oh and sorry about your dog, it wouldn't stop yapping." A shorter man walked over and dropped a bloody bag in front of Lucy, the stench of death filled her nose and she looked up at the girl.

Lucy quickly kicked the man behind her causing him to back up in surprise, she twisted her body grabbing the leg and quickly shooting him in the head, she then turned and kicked the woman down causing her to fall on Virgo's dead body. Blood splattered on Lucy's face, but she didn't care, pulling the trigger without hesitation, her attention then focused on the man running towards her with that pathetic knife of his, she pulled the trigger aiming between his eyes. More blood splattered on her, she then turned to face the four men that were left. Two of them held tightly onto her stepmother and sister, knife held against their necks, two more stood in front of them, one of them was the same one that wore the black mask. The rest wore white masks, yet this one was the ringleader.

Lucy held up the revolver, there were 5 more bullets and she couldn't waste them. Her heart pained at the thought of Virgo suffering, were Aquarius, Cancer and the others alright?

"Why? Why the hell are you making us suffer so much?!" She exclaimed, her hand was shaking and she tried to calm herself, but the tears fell down faster mixing in with the blood painted on her face.

"That's business doll face, don't take this personal." He snapped his hand but before anything could happen the man holding Haruka fell dead, glass falling on the floor. The door opened and the moonlight coming in from outside gleaming brightly, Natsu walked in followed by Gray, Erza, and Gajeel.

"I should have known you Dragons would get involved-" He never finished because he fell dead along with the last 2. Lucy merely fell on her knees next to Virgo and a dead plue, the gun still in her grip, handshaking. Vanessa slowly walked over and knelt down gently taking the gun away, and holding her hand. She looked up at her, brown orbs filled with tears.

"Why is my family growing smaller?" She whispered lightly, Vanessa's green eyes mirrored her own. Tears slowly falling down and she brought her into a tight hug, Haruka joining in with Natsu watching.

Lucy finally released a sob, Natsu could only feel his heartbreak. Erza came up beside him and held out an ID, a grimace on her lips.

"They were watching us at the warehouse, watching her every move. We were lucky Aquarius alerted us before we arrived at the house, Jude and everyone is alright. Unfortunately, there were six casualties-"

"She's not getting a break is she?" Natsu spoke up, Erza slowly shook her head. "What if we got here later? Would she still be alive-" The scarlet-haired girl rested a hand on his shoulder.

"Lucy puts up a fight, that's the good thing. I don't think it's safe if she stays here, all three of them need to be somewhere else." Natsu nodded in agreement.

"Lucy will stay with me, Erza can you-" She nodded.

"I'll take care of her mother and sister, Gray and I will be on watch as they sleep at Fullbuster manor." The raven-haired boy turned once he heard his name, but Gajeel slapped him telling him to focus. "Juvia will help out too, she's at his house now with his brother." 

Natsu only nodded, he needed to figure out how to help Lucy.
