Chapter Nine

Lucy walked into the large mansion with her father's right hand men on either side of her. They were told to make sure she had gotten home safety. Lucy glared at both of them and walked upstairs, not saying anything. As Lucy went towards her bed she noticed her door open, she rushed inside to find her step mother holding a picture.

A look of distaste was on her face and she looked up.

"Your dead mother had a peculiar taste in clothing child, so I don't blame you for dressing the way you do. Though I must say, it was a shame such a handsome young boy died with her, your brother died terribly and in vain." With that she put the picture down and walked beside Lucy.

Her hand rested on Lucy's shoulder.

"Lets hope you don't end up like them." With that she walked out of the room and shut the door. Lucy looked down at the wooden floor, tears welling up in her eyes. Her fists clenched and her eyes shut.

"Hey Luce, can you walk with me back to the house?" Luke asked his sister as the walked out of the Academy. His blonde hair was tousled and his uniform vest was thrown on his shoulder.

Lucy shook her head and gestured to her two friends waiting for her on the other side of the street.

"I can't Luke, My friends and I are going to meet up with Kody and the others. I think Kody is going to ask me to be his girlfriend." She replied with a large smile. Luke chuckled and ruffled her hair with a hint of playfulness.

"Alright I'll tell mom where you'll be, be careful Luce." She smiled brightly and playfully slapped his hand from her hair. "I love yo-" She was already across the street with her friends.

Lucy fell to her knees and covered her eyes, the tears falling onto her uniform skirt.

"I never got to say good bye, It's all my fault..."

....

Vanessa heard Lucy's cries as she sat down at the large dinner table, she glanced at her husband who simply drank his wine. She shook her head and grabbed her fork to dig in her salad, until Hakura stood up from the table.

"Sweetie what's wrong? Is the food not to your liking?" She asked her daughter, Haruka simply grabbed the plate beside her and walked out of the dining room. Vanessa smiled softly to herself and continued to eat her food.

Haruke shook her head as she stood outside Lucy's bedroom door. The plate in her hand was still warm and she fixed her glasses. Lucy's soft cries were heard and she turned the knob. The room was dark and the only source of light was her lava lamp, which had belonged to her brother.

"If it's you father, you can leave because I refuse-"

"it's me Lucy, it's Haruka." She went towards Lucy's night stand and put the plate down. She cleared her throat awkwardly, but her eyes softened once she noticed the picture beside Lucy who was facing the other way. "I know how it feels..." She spoke up.

Lucy turned slightly. The room remained silent for several minutes until Lucy sat up and faced Haruka. Her blonde hair pulled into a messy bun and her eyes red from crying.

"How what feels?" She asked, her voice hoarse.

"How it feels to lose someone you love, the only difference is that I don't know how it feels to lose a sibling. Though I do know that it's not right to blame yourself." With that she turned around towards the door.

Lucy watched her step sister carefully, not saying anything or doing anything. That was the first decent thing she had heard her step sister say.

"But if you tell anyone I was decent, I'll deny it brat and wash your face you look more pathetic than you normally do." With that she walked out and slammed the door.

Lucy smiled softly and wiped her face.

"Thank you...."
