Chapter Eleven
( I had a stranger things flashback )
Natsu slowly opened his eyes to find himself in a hospital room, he sat up but winced in pain. A hand lightly pushed him back down and he turned to see Lucy, her blonde hair was now pulled back and her uniform was lightly coated with blood - his blood. He leaned back down and Lucy sat on the wooden chair beside him, he noticed that she was holding onto something. The star caught his eye and he was about to say something, but she cut him off.
"The star symbolizes the Star Gang Dragneel." She spoke up looking at him with an unknown expression, she then held out it to him. "The doctor had to take it off of you." He took it gingerly and then noticed she was looking at him with expecting eyes. He sat up more straight and looked down at the necklace, he didn't know how to tell her.
"It was given to me." He stated simply, he didn't know what else to say. He didn't even remember the girl all that well, he was a kid. He knew he name was Layla - that's all she gave up, Gray had told him that she could have been lying.
"I was 6 years old when my father sent my Mother, brother and I to Tokoyo since a turf war was happening back where we lived. The first 2 days were boring and then I stumbled at a park, I met a boy there. He called himself a dragon." Natsu froze up and looked at Lucy who looked at her lap. "We hung out and played, he met my brother and the three of us played together. We would play house, tag an all sorts of weird games. 3 days later I had to go back, so I gave him the necklace my father had given me. The symbol is used to let other gangs know to back off, or at least it works for the low-class ones. He gave me the ring he was wearing." She then pulled out a chain, a ring dangled down from it.
Natsu looked up at Lucy and she looked back at him, a small smile on his lips. He then realized it was the same ring he had given that girl so many years ago, his father was upset that Natsu no longer had his childhood ring, but Natsu knew it would be safe.
"My dad called me Dragon." He spoke up, Lucy shook her head softly. "I was always fired up - or at least that's what he would say." He chuckled at the memory of his father chasing him around the halls of their mansion. Natsu remembered how he would always wear dragon shirts, his father bought him dragon book and toys.
"Yeah, well it was a weird thing to call yourself." Lucy teased.
"Why'd you call yourself Layla if your name was Lucy." Lucy then turned a deep shade of red and looked away from him. "I would always use my middle name when I was a kid." She answered truthfully. She held onto the ring and looked up at him.
"Where is your brother-"
"He died. My mother and brother got killed." Lucy answered she tied the chain around her neck again. Natsu only nodded, he wanted to say something, but what do you say? The two sat in silence and Natsu looked down at the necklace in his hand.
"Now I feel like a jerk for calling you Gorilla." He broke the silence and Lucy laughed lightly. She shook her head and grinned at him.
"Well, I'm sorry for kicking you around and calling you a pervert. Lucy replied back, Natsu shrugged and grinned back at her.
"I deserved being kicked around, I needed a wake up call. So let me re-introduce myself." He held out a hand and Lucy took it. "My name is Natsu Dragneel, I like food and my two best friends are Lisanna and Gray. Just don't tell Gray I refer to him as my best friend."
"My name is Lucy Layla Heartfillia and I like to read books." The two shook hand and smiled at each other, they would have stood like that if it weren't for the door slamming open. Lisanna burst inside and quickly went by his side. She then noticed their hands and smiled slyly.
"Oh, what do we have here?" Lucy blushed and pulled her hand back, Natsu simply rubbed his head smiling nervously. "Didn't know you had it in you Natsu." She winked at her childhood friend and elbowed him softly.
"Well, I better get going. Bye guys." With that, she ran out of the room leaving Lisanna and Natsu alone. Lisanna then took this opportunity to sit on the chair.
"So Natsu, what happened?"
I didn't want to leave it at a cliffhanger
please give feedback, what did you guys think?
