A year had passed since Percy's father had stopped visiting. He no longer hoped for him to surprise him on Christmas Day, or pick him up from school on his birthday or any day. The presents under the tree had his father's name on it, but Percy could tell that it was his mother's. No one else curls the 'y' in Percy's name twice under it. The pictures of his father vanished slowly. One by one they were being replaced. The picture of Sally and Loki smiling at the Park was replaced with the picture of Percy in his wizard costume from last year. A picture of him and his father at the beach at night, roasting marshmallows. Percy on lap holding the stick with the biggest smile on his face. Loki smiling at his son, one arm around him to make sure he doesn't fall and the other holding the stick to prevent percy from burning them. In its place stood a picture of Sally and her new lover.
Percy didn't really like Gabe. He had a faint smell of beer to him everytime he visited. And each time he looked at percy, Gabe had a sadistic smile. As if he thinking of all the way he could hurt percy. Gabe was slightly taller than sally by an inch. His stomach protruded just slightly, it was noticeable, but just barely. He had three hairs on his head combed to the side.
He tried to tell sally multiple times that Gabe didn't feel right to him , but every time he saw his mom and Gabe together, happy, he couldn't. He's seen his mom sad too many times after his dad left. She shouldn't be sad because Percy doesn't like him.
"Percy, time for dinner," Sally called out. She placed a small plate of spaghetti on the table and her plate.
"Mom, I don't like Gabe," Percy said when he sat down next to his mom. "He looks at me weirdly. And he smells."
"Sweety, Gabe is a good guy," Sally says. "I guess he's trying to get used to the fact that I have you.
"And I know that a new addition to the family is gonna be different, it's gonna be scary."Sally ruffled his hair. "But trust me, it'll be fine."

Later that year, Gabe and Sally got married.
It was then that the real side of Gabe surfaced.
