"He WHAT?" Christian yelled, flying up from his bunk to look at me. I leaned against the cold wall and groaned, looking down at my dirt stained nails.
"He kissed me. You went to prison you didn't go deaf." I mumbled and Christian looked over apologetically. Kicking his legs off the bed he stood up.
"Do you want me to talk to him?" He asked quietly. I shrugged, not looking up. Christian sighed, rubbing his hands down his face. "Listen I can-"
"Go talk to him and tell him what exactly? Sorry you can't kiss her because she is the only person that has really talked to him in five years? You can't kiss her because she's my friend? You can't kiss her because she has a boyfriend who possibly got back into alcohol or is dead?" My voice caught as I finished the sentence and Christian froze. Feeling my eyes got hot I blinked rapidly. I couldn't break down. Not here... Not again... I bite the inside of my lip hard and dropped my eyes from Christian, letting out a short sigh.
"Mel, come on. You can't think like that, I'm sure he's fine." Christian said. I nodded slightly and rolled my lips in, biting them.
"And if he's not?" I asked weekly. He shrugged, running a hand through his black hair.
"Then we still don't worry."
"Like I've said before, what if we tried to escape?" I asked. Christian's eyes hardened and his jaw stiffened.
"If we try to escape we will die, There is nothing we can do and in case you haven't noticed we're kind of stuck here until we die. Which could be tonight mind you." He snapped, glaring at me. My blue eyes flicked up to his and I shoved past him.
"Good to know Christian." I stepped out of the cell and heard him yell in frustration, hitting the wall. Leaning against the metal bars that lined the walkway I heard footsteps behind me and Christian leaned on the bars next to me. His arms were tense and his head down.
"I always fuck things up don't I..." He mumbled, laughing under his breath. I sighed, shaking my head.
"No you don't. We're all on edge here and we don't know what to do. Trust me there are time where I've wanted to scream and yell at you just because I needed to ' vent. I think the reason I didn't is because I knew if I did I would start crying you'd end up comforting me and then I'd just feel bad." I smiled slightly and he chuckled.
"You can yell at me all you want if you need to. I'll be fine." He grinned at me and I smiled.
"I'll keep that in mind." I laughed, brushing a piece of hair behind my ear. "It sound mean, but I'm glad you're here with me. I think you kept me from losing my mind." He smiled, looking over at me and resting his head on his arm.
"I wish we could be someplace else like ya know, Hawaii, but I'm glad I'm not alone."
"We're such saps." I laughed, straightening up. Christian grinned, nodding in agreement, and stood up as well.
"You know it, come here." He stretched his arms out, grinning, and I rolled my eyes. Stepping forwards I hugged him tightly, leaning my forehead on his shoulder. Christian's arms wrapped around me and he leaning his head on my shoulder. "He's going to be fine Melody. He still has most of the gang so he can get away. He's almost seventeen as it is and can get out of that hell hole he calls his house soon." I nodded, letting out a sigh.
"I know..." He tightened his arms before stepping back. His eyes traveled down to the court yard and he frowned. "What?" I asked, following his gaze. "Oh." My eyes found what he was looking at and I smiled. Kevin was stumbling from the gym, knuckles bloodied and a crazed grin that we knew all too well plastered on his face. He had won the fight with Rex. I laughed, despite what may have happened to Rex, and started towards the stairs, tugging on Christian's sleeve. The metal stairs clanged loudly as we ran down them, two at a time. My feet hit the cement, Christian close behind me, and walked towards Kevin. I called out his name and he turned towards us, grinning. As he wiped on his red knuckles on his jumpsuit we approached him. "You beat him?" I asked. He nodded, giving me the "duh" look.
