I am machine
A part of me
Wishes I could just feel something
I am machine
I never sleep
Until I fix what's broken
I am machine
A part of me
Wishes I could just feel something...
The music faded out as Eric turned down the music.
After the whole Hollywood Undead session, the music turned out to be pretty good. We've also driven a good amount away from camp, more than 40 miles, I'm sure of that. With Nathan driving with the speedometer reading 90 most of the time, I'm probably close with that guess.
"You ready?" Nate asked me.
"Always," I stated.
We hopped out of the car and began walking towards the tiny store that stood across the street. We were in a pretty rural area, the last house we saw was five miles back, so unless many people have driven down here, this area should have something hiding away. My gun was hanging loosely in my hand as we got closer to the doors.
"Don't forget to knock," I stated sarcastically.
Nathan turned to me, "You're so funny, J."
I flipped my non-existent hair behind my shoulder, "Thanks!"
Eric opened the door to the shop and walked inside, whistling as he entered. I followed Nathan inside, sending Dylan to keep watch.
As expected, the store was trashed. Random products on the floor, lights busted, holes in the walls and ceilings. I walked over to the others as Nathan flipped out a list, probably sent by Izzy.
"Alright, this is the list she gave me, try and find some of the stuff on it," Nathan stated.
Dylan peeked through the door, " Yo, there's another building in the back just so you know."
"Let me see the list," I stated.
The list had the basic items, food, water, warmer clothes for the winter. At the bottom, a bunch of med names were listed, based on the handwriting, it was Dr. Malls.
"Ima go check out that building Dyl mentioned, maybe find some of these things," I said.
"Yell if you need anything," Nathan said.
I walked away, "Yeah, yeah."
Dylan whipped around from up ahead as he heard the door open, he lifted up his eyebrows in a questioning manner.
"Going to check out that building," I explained.
He nodded his head and turned his head back towards the road and surrounding woods.
I continued my walk to the building and walked up to the door, which was a bit rusted from the years of neglect. My hand grasped the handle firmly and I tugged, only for it to stay shut. I tugged at it again, getting the same outcome from before. I glanced around the door and saw a sign that read push.
I shook my head and opened the door, "I'm a fucking idiot," I muttered.
The light from the outside flooded the room, revealing a room full of nothing -- there was nothing in there.
I sighed and walked back outside.
Dylan kept his body facing the street, "Nothing?" He asked.
"Nothing." I sighed.
I walked around the corner of the store and stopped in front of the glass door. Nathan and Eric were still searching the store for anything they could find.
"We should get goin' soon, gonna get dark soon," Dylan stated.
"Yeah, we should have left earlier," I said. "Got maybe an hour left of daylight, at least enough to be able to see everything clearly," I stated.
I turned and opened the door to the store lightly, "Yo, let's get this show on the road, yeah?" I yelled.
Eric popped out of a door, "Whatever."
I huffed and let the door close and walked towards the car that was sitting idly on the other side of the road.
"Did anybody teach you to look both ways?" Dylan asked.
"Oh shit, you right" I yelled, whipping my head left and right.
"There's a semi coming, man," Dylan said, sarcasm dripping from his tongue.
I put my hands up in surrender and turned, "Oh god, please do not hit me Mr. semi truck," I said in a monotone tone.
We laughed and I yanked open the car door.
Maybe starting her up will get them to hustle
I turned the key quickly and the car sputtered that noise.
"Do not even," I muttered, my anger already rising.
I turned the key again and it repeated the annoying sound.
It's either the battery just decided to die, we somehow broke the car, or, I don't know how to turn on a car correctly.
"Nate, man!' I called.
Nathan walked up and I popped the hood, allowing him to check it out.
I pocked my head out the window, "Anything?" I asked.
"Eric, did you fill up the car?" Nate asked slamming the hood.
Eric leaned against the car, "You said you were going to do that."
"For fuck's sake," I growled.
I hopped out of the car and opened the back door, grabbing the bags we had brought. I backed out of the car and looked at the others,
"Looks like we're walking," I stated.
