~ TWO DAYS LATER ~

We had managed to sleep through the night and kept traveling around the area, we came across some walkers, but surprisingly, not that many.

Now we're sleeping in trees.

Yep, the last house we saw was a few miles back, and we don't really want to backtrack, so we're staying up high to lessen our chances of dying while sleeping on the ground. The four of us decided that I would stay on watch this time since one, I can actually keep myself awake when I need to, and two, I really just like to keep watch when we're not in a house or a definite secure location. So here I am, laying on a tree branch looking like a possum.

"Do you even know where we are?"

Shit, people.

I kept quiet and tried to listen in on the conversation and footsteps that were coming our way. Guessing by the footsteps, there were about 3 of them.

"Dude, nobody knows where we are." Another voice said.

"Will you guys shut up, he knows what he's doing," A female voice snapped.

"If so many people are asking if he knows what he's doing, I'm guessing that he doesn't know what he's doing," I said aloud.

Why do I have to be cocky? Why?

Their footsteps stop suddenly, and I hear a gun cock from down below.

"Who's there?" A man asked

"The Boogyman, " I joked.

"The Boogyman isn't a girl," Somebody sneered.

Okay, now there's four.

I hear the string of a bow being tightened, "I'll shoot you!" A man yelled.

I chuckled, "You don't know where I am," I retorted.

An arrow flies into a tree nearby me, a little off to my right.

"Soooooo close," I said.

"Shut the fuck up I'm trying to sleep," Eric groaned.

"They're trying to kill me, but enjoy your sleep," I turned my attention to the mystery group, "Could you guys quiet down, he needs his beauty sleep."

Somebody sighs, " Just come down, we won't hurt you, my friends here are just bluffing about the whole 'we'll kill you' persona," Somebody explained.

I stayed silent and waited for them to say something else, I'm gonna test their promise. Or should I say, one singular person's  promise?

"Hello?" The girl asked.

I positioned my hands on the branch so that I could hang there if I needed to, and then pushed myself off so that I would be hanging in front of them. They turned around quickly and I got a face full of shotgun and bow.

"Hey!" I said happily when i shot down.

"How many of you up in that tree?" A black haired man asked.

"In this tree?" I asked, "Just one, but I can make it zero if you let me drop down." I offered.

Without letting them answer, I dropped down from the tree, causing them to jump back slightly, "Don't be scared I'm not gonna hurt you," I gestured towards myself, "I'm not even armed."

They stared at me, most likely they are shocked at my confidence in this situation, and my lack of weapons.

"Soooo," I continued on from my last sentence, "that would make you guys the assholes. Pointing guns at an unarmed person," I said.

"Just put them down," A brown haired guy said.

They put down their guns reluctantly, " You got a group?" The girl asked.

"Maaaybe," I  said, "You got names?" I asked.

The black haired guy stepped up, "I'm Zaire," He gestured towards the others pointing at them with each name, " that's Briar, he's Vincent, and that's Aliza," He said pointing to a little girl, about twelve years old. I didn't even notice her.

"Tight, I'm Jaiden," I gestured towards the trees, "You'll meet them when they wake up."

Briar stepped next to Zaire, "So, back to the other question, do you have a group?" She asked.

"Yep," I answered.

Their faces brightened slightly.

Aliza spoke up from behind Vincent, "Can we come?" She asked shyly.

"Why'd you have to sick the kid on me?" I asked, "And yes, you guys are welcome to tag along until we get back." I offered.

" 'get back'?" Zaire asked.

"We're out scavenging, circling back now, probably one more night out here then we'll be back," I explained.

"When are you leaving here?" Vincent asked.

"In the morning, when everyone is up," I answered, "Now if you don't mind, I'm gonna go sleep in my tree, somebody has to take watch, I don't care who. That's your first test I guess."

I pulled myself back up the tree and settled myself onto the brach I was positioned on before, watching the new group members lay their stuff down and whisper amongst themselves.

"So, where is this place?" Briar asked.

I sighed, "Sleeping man," I said.

"Whatever." She said.
