"Ruby, get up," whispered Hazel into my ear.

We were still on the plane after it just landed and we were heading out to the airport. It was a three-hour flight and Dad made us get up at five o'clock in the morning catch it. The plane wasn't scheduled to leave until seven o'clock in the morning, however. The reason why we got up so early is that he didn't want to be stuck in traffic on the way there. We recently moved from Mesquite all the way to Boston, or should I say that only Hazel and I. Dad told us that he was "financially struggling" to pay for taxes, keeping his job and trying to be there for us. My sister is about to enter her third year of university. The job he worked to pay for school didn't pay her enough, so Dad usually gave her money for her student loans. Sadie lived about two hours where we use to live.

Then there's my brother Kyle who's three years older than Sadie. He has been living in Boston for about three years now, so we were sent to Boston go and live with him. Kyle is thirteen years older than me and Sadie is eleven years older than me.

We then got out of the plane and had to wait until my luggage arrived. Hazel was hidden in my pocket, so she got to ride the plane for free. She wasn't my sister; she was my best friend. In fact, she wasn't even human. Instead, she was a cockatiel. In this world, it was completely normal to see animals to walk and talk like humans and to understand the human language. I personally don't mind it, but I have witnessed cats and dogs fighting sometimes. Some of them can't even get along for one second. That doesn't mean that all cats and dogs fight with each other, however. A few minutes later, we saw the luggage arrive at us. I had to pick up four heavy suitcases for all of my belongings.

"Check to see if my birdhouse wasn't damaged," said Hazel. I opened the suitcase that contained the birdhouse. It was right there, undamaged, next to my clarinet case and drumsticks.

"It's fine, Hazel," I said, "Let me call Kyle to see where he is." I flipped open my cell phone and called him. He answered and told me that he was five minutes away from the airport. "He said that he was five minutes away, so it shouldn't take long," I responded.

"Good," Hazel replied.

We waited there for about twenty minutes before he finally arrived. After he saw us, I immediately ran to him and gave him a big hug. It has been so long since we last saw each other.

"I missed you," I replied to him.

"I missed you, too," he said, " I think you'll both like your new house," he let go of the hug.

"Where do you live, anyway?" I asked.

"You'll both see," he replied, " By the way, where's your luggage, Ruby?"

"Over there," I pointed at the suitcases, "I'll get them." I snatched all of the handles at once.

"Need any help with that?" he asked.

"I got it," I replied.

"Here," he grabbed a two of the suitcases for me, "my car's just right outside."

We left the airport and Kyle led us to his car. He opened the trunk and loaded it up with the luggage. Then, he closed the trunk and we got into his dark blue car. He turned on the engine and get drove away. I was excited to see our new house.

"This is a new chapter in our lives, huh, Hazel," I replied, "Now that school just ended, I can start the new school year by making new friends here and ace all of my classes."

"Speaking of school, doesn't your new school have band camp?" Kyle asked.

"Yeah, why?" I replied.

"Well, if you're going to band camp, that means that you just joined the school marching band," he said.

"I knew that. What's wrong with it?" I asked.
