The days went by shortly. I kept track of each day until then. Days felt twice as long as they usually would. That didn't matter to me. I promised myself that I would wait for that day. Hazel and I didn't go to Ruff's doghouse as much since we were waiting for the grand prize to be delivered. Instead, I decided to distract myself. I focused more on my school work, went to after school band rehearsal and spent time more with my band friends and my family. I started to form a better bond with Kyle and Aunt Cynthia. Every day that passed by, I would look at my calendar and tell myself that we were getting closer to it by one day...

It was finally that Thursday and Hazel and I were excited. After school, we went straight to Ruff's doghouse. We decided to take the subway since it was much faster. After we arrived, we noticed a large crate on his lawn. Ruff was outside trying to get it inside.

"Is that the grand prize?!" I exclaimed.

"Oh, yeah," he was out of breath, "I need a hand with this."

"Where's Blossom? Why isn't she helping you?" I asked.

"She left this morning for some 'cat business'. She won't be back until after the grand finale." he replied.

We jumped in to help Ruff. He wasn't faking it. The crate was heavy. It took us a while to get it inside. We dragged it into the garage until it was time to pull it out. We were exhausted from all that work.

"It took us long enough," I sighed.

"We're not done yet. We still have to set everything up," Ruff said.

"Like what?" Hazel questioned.

"Decorations," he replied.

"Oh, right. This finale is going to make history, Ruff," I said.

We spent over three hours getting everything set up. I double checked for all of the supplies that will be used on Sunday. We even cleaned every single spot in the house for the new season coming up. I honestly wished that Blossom was there to help us. She's just as important as Ruff. Later, we got home really late that day, even though we took the subway. It was midnight when we arrived. We immediately went to sleep before Kyle or Aunt Cynthia noticed. I had spare house keys to get in. I was excited about the grand finale. I even started counting the days and hours until then...

The house phone started ringing at around six in the morning. It woke me up before my alarm. I got up to answer it.

"Hello?" I yawned.

"Ruby! It's an emergency! You need to get here right now!" someone shouted in a familiar voice. It was Ruff.

"Ruff, what's going on?" I asked.

"The grand prize! It's gone!" he shrieked.

"Wait, what do you mean it's gone?!" I exclaimed.

"Someone stole it!" he claimed.

"Call the police!" I demanded.

"I did. They're coming. Listen, you and Hazel need to get here right now. I need your help," he replied.

"But I have school today. I just can't skip it. I have an important test to take and it's worth-" I explained.

"Ruby, this is important to me," he interrupted.

"I'll be right there," I sighed.

Hazel and I sprinted as fast as we could to the crime scene. Ruff wasn't joking that he was going to make me miss school to help him. Not once has he ever done that. I was shocked. I was also a bit worried about the grand prize. Was it really stolen? Who took it? Why would they take it from Ruff? Every minute that went by while trying to get there made me more anxious.
