A few weeks have past and the beginning of the new school year was starting. The hot summer weather quickly changed into cool autumn weather. Dark forest leaves started to get orange and yellow. Pumpkin patches started selling pumpkins publicly around Boston. My school has started decorating the main hallway and classroom with Halloween-themed decorations. Nothing much has happened besides me starting a new school year.

It was an ordinary windy day in the city of Boston. Hazel and I arrived at Ruff's doghouse on a Friday evening. The sky was cloudy and there were so many leaves being blown away by the wind. There was a slight chill in the air, gradually whispering in our ears. I was trying to polish the computer when Ruff asked me to do so. There was a lot we had to do since we were about to air the finale for this season. Ruff was constantly on the phone, talking to his boss and other important people. Meanwhile, the rest of us had our own jobs Ruff wanted us to complete. Hazel and I had to mop the floors and dust everything.

"Man, I'm tired. We've been cleaning the house for two hours nonstop," I said while holding a mop.

"Come on, now. The finale is a week from now. We need to have everything ready now," she replied.

"I'm just gonna take a short break. I'll be right back." I placed the mop on the floor and went to the refrigerator. Upon opening it, there wasn't much in there. In fact, most of the containers were empty. "Ruff, when was the last time you went grocery shopping?"

"Yesterday, why?" Ruff replied while carrying boxes full with office supplies.

"What happened to all of the food?" I asked.

"What do you mean what happened to all of the food?"

"Come look at this. There's basically nothing in here."

"Let me see." Ruff dropped the boxes on the floor and went to the fridge. He pushed me out of the way and opened it. He glanced at the empty shelf and immediately frowned.

"Blossom, did you eat all of the food?" Ruff snapped. She immediately shook her head.

"Chet, was it you?"

"Do you really think a tiny mouse can eat a week-supply of food?" Hazel asked.

"How did you not noticed this?" I asked.

"I haven't checked the fridge since this morning," he replied.

"Actually, come to think of it. There has been a lot of weird things going on lately. Someone is misplacing everything around here," I replied.

"Guys, let's not make a big deal about this, okay? We need to focus on getting everything ready for next week," Hazel said.

"No, you're right. We need to focus. Come on."

We continued finishing our chores and tasks Ruff wanted us to do. In the outside, I pretended to not care about how everything in the house was mysteriously being misplaced. In the inside, I was very concerned. I thought about everything that was possible. Is the place haunted? Is there a ghost? How about a spirit? What do they want from us? All of these thoughts were in my head and it was very difficult to not think about it...

The next day went by really smoothly. There wasn't much to do since Ruff ordered this year's grand prize yesterday and we had to wait for it to arrive. Besides that, we were ready to start a new season next month. Because we have already done our part, Hazel and I decided to stay home until Ruff wanted us to come. Kyle and Aunt Cynthia were home with us on one Saturday morning. Meanwhile, Sadie was cleaning the living room. They were setting up this year's Halloween decorations around the house. Meanwhile, I was in my room, trying to finish my homework early. Hazel was still asleep.
