The bell rang and everyone was jumping up and down in the air and hugging everyone.

"Goodbye, class! Have a great summer!" my teacher replied.

I ran out of the school to the front. It was very sunny and warm outside. There were students and teachers saying goodbye to each other, giving hugs and signing yearbooks. We were released early for us to finally enjoy our freedom. As I went outside, I noticed Joe, Athena, Drake, and Alex were standing outside with each other.

"Hey, guys," I said.

"Hi, Ruby," Athena replied.

"Oh, hey. Man, I've been waiting all year for this," Joe said.

"Totally! Hearing that last bell ring is probably the best feeling ever," Athena replied.

"So, what do you guys wanna do during the summer?" I asked.

"I got an idea. Why not go to the arcade to celebrate the last day of school?" Alex asked.

"Today?" Cornelius questioned.

"Yeah, why not?" she replied.

"Actually, we can't today. The power's not working right now. It should be open by tomorrow," Drake explained.

"Okay, let's go tomorrow! My mom wouldn't mind taking all of us," Alex exclaimed.

"So, where are we gonna meet up?" Cornelius asked.

"Come over to my house. We'll go to the arcade from there," she replied.

"Do we all agree on meeting up at Alex's house?" he asked the group.

"Sounds like a great idea," Athena replied.

"I'm in, " I replied.

"I don't mind it," Joe responded.

"Sure, why not?" Drake responded.

"Awesome! Okay, guys, I gotta go. My rides here," Alex said.

"Bye, Alex!" I cried.

She got in the car and it drove off. It was just the five of us left now. We decided to talk with each other for a while, discussing making plans to hang out together all summer long. Then Joe, Cornelius and Drake's rides came. They all said their goodbyes and it was just Athena and me.

"So, do you have any plans with your family this summer?" I asked.

"Yeah! We're going to a water park next week," she responded.

"That sounds awesome, " I replied.

"Yeah, they just opened a new water slide recently, so I'm going to ride it," she said.

"I have a lot of things to do with someone all summer long, " I responded.

"Like what?" she asked.

"Well... I have to do a lot of super complicated things that would be hard to explain, " I stuttered. Then, a red truck drove by the entrance.

"Oh, my mom's here," she said.

"Okay, I guess I'll see you tomorrow."

"Before I go, I want you to have this." She handed me a strip of paper with a combination of numbers written on it. "Give me a call sometime, okay? Bye, Ruby."

She was in the truck and was heading home. I stood there in shock, thinking about what just happened. After a minute, I jumped up and down to realize I just received her phone number. I sprinted all the way home, ignoring everyone around me. As soon as I went into the house, I ran straight to my room. I threw my backpack on my bed.
