We were shocked. It was her. I didn't know how to react. There wasn't much we could do physically since the subway was moving at a constant speed. She looked at us with a very angrily grind. We didn't say anything throughout the ride. All Hazel and I did was give each other looks of terror. The cat obviously heard about everything we said. She wasn't very pleased about it.
Then the subway came to another stop. She got off and ran off. We decided to get off along with her to stop her, even though it wasn't our stop. We chased her through the subway station and outside. Snow covered most of the streets and walkways. It was also very windy and we had a hard time trying to catch up to her. Next thing we knew, she disappeared.
"Great, that was probably our only chance of stopping her," Hazel sighed.
"Actually, you might want to reconsider that thought, Hazel. Come and check this out," I replied. I pointed at pawprints left all over the snow where LePurr was. The trail leads to the direction that she fled to.
"So?" Hazel asked.
"So, isn't it obvious that LePurr left these pawprints? We can just follow them and they'll show us where she went to," I explained.
"Well, what are we waiting for? Let's go!" she exclaimed.
"Hold on, Hazel," I said.
"What is it this time?" she sighed.
"Remember? We made a promise to Blossom and Chet. We wouldn't do this without them," I replied.
"They're probably already asleep by now," Hazel responded.
"Come on, Hazel. I never break promises," I replied.
"Fine, but make it quick. My feathers can't keep in much heat anymore," she said.
I got out my flip phone and quickly called Blossom. My phone was low on battery, so I had to make it a quick call. I explained to her everything that happened on the subway. She was surprised to hear that we found LePurr somewhere in Boston, still lurking around. We told her exactly where we were and come to meet up with us. It was not a surprise that she was tired and had to wake Chet up at midnight. The call ended and we had to wait outside in the cold. It was maybe in the low twenties. According to the weather channel, it's supposed to keep snowing all January and all of next month. I helped Hazel keep warm by putting her inside my jacket. We waited around twenty minutes when Blossom and Chet arrived with winter clothes.
"Look, these were the pawprints we were talking about," I explained.
We followed the trail and it led us to multiple pathways and corners. There wasn't much actually happening in the streets of Boston in the middle of the night. We were in an area that was known for being suspiciously calm. After around ten minutes, the trail stopped and turned into a flower shop that was opened 24/7, according to the sign. We had no choice but to enter the shop.
Inside, it was surprisingly warm. I really would expect for a flower shop to open in the middle of winter. Around us, there was a bunch of flowers on display. They had all sorts of flowers from all sorts of colors. Oddly enough, there weren't any employees around.
"Okay, guys, let's spit up to find anything that will lead us to LePurr," I demanded.
We all spread out to find something in the store. There really wasn't much we were able to find. LePurr left no traces of her around or anywhere. The trail did lead us here, so there must be something we can use to find her, I thought. Then, I noticed a small office in the back. I went to check it out and I found Chet going behind a large metal drawer pinned to the wall. He kept pointing at it and the wall.
