     My hands were trembling as I take out my keys from my pocket.

     Damien was standing right behind me as I tried my best to finally put this goddamn key on the lock.

     Damien apparently had a car with him when he got back, so he drove us to my old apartment instead of walking our way back like how I usually do.

    I was so nervous when we were both at the car that I didn't get to say a single word to Damien the whole 7-minute drive to my apartment. Damien looked like he wanted to say so many things to me, but I knew that he felt my awkwardness so he decided to just stay quiet too.

     I blinked and realized that I still haven't fucking opened the door yet.

     My heart was pounding like crazy. Damien was standing so close that I could literally feel his body heat on my back.

     "Here, let me help", Damien suddenly says, leaning forward and grabbing my trembling hand so he could position it on the lock. He pushed my hand so the key could go inside, then he slowly turns it to finally open the door.

     When the door opened, Damien removed his hand from mine, and I had to quickly move away from him because I knew my face was red just because of what he did.

     "T-thank you. Uhm, It wasn't really necessary because I'm a grown ass man and I could open doors without anyone helping me, but, you know...whatever", I awkwardly say, immediately going inside my apartment so I wouldn't be able to see Damien's reaction on what I just stupidly said.

     You're literally acting like a socially awkward teenager right now – Inner Conscience.

     Shut up. You know nothing inner conscience.

     "Wow, it still looks the same", Damien suddenly says as he follows me inside and closes the door.

     The moment Damien closed the door, someone suddenly ran towards me, and that someone was none other than Hunter.

     "Hey boy! Daddy's home!" I excitedly say as Hunter started licking my face.

     He then lies down as I happily rub his belly, almost forgetting Damien was in the room, staring at me.

     I quickly stopped and immediately stood up.

     I glanced at Damien but quickly looked back at Hunter and said, "You know Hunter the dog...right?"

     "It's weird how you call him Hunter now", Damien says instead.

     I awkwardly laugh and answered him without still looking at his way, "Y-Yeah. And I don't think he'll remember you since you've been gone for years. He's a biter so...be careful", I warned him.

     "Hey boy. How long have I not seen you?" Damien casually asked as Hunter suddenly ran towards Damien to give him a kiss too.

     Great, my dog gets to kiss him first before I could.

     "We've trained with each other for years; he'll definitely remember me. And besides, dogs never forget", Damien says, smiling from ear to ear.

     I stared at him, my heart fluttering as I watched him smile like that again.

     Tears were ready to pour again but I tried my best not to break down to not ruin the happy mood.

     It feels like I've waited for this moment my entire life. I couldn't believe Damien was finally in front of me, alive and well.
