Chapter 29: The Dance

  "Why'd the principal have to ban crop tops" Mika thought to herself as she and McKenna walked home from school.
"Maybe she was tired of seeing all the bare midriffs" McKenna replied.
"That's a possibility" Mika said.
Once they got back to the mansion.
"How was school today, sis" Alex asked.
"Principal Burkley just banned midriff baring shirts" Mika answered.
"Oh. Do you like my new outfit" Alex replied.
"Yeah. How come you're not showing any skin" Mika asked.
"I decided to change it up a little bit. Sure my incredibly short shirt got the attention of BJ and like a boatload of college guys.... But I just got tired of wearing the same outfit" Alex answered.
"Oh. That makes perfect sense" Mika replied.
Meanwhile, BJ and Mikki were hanging out with Brianna and Sue Ellen at the arcade.
"I could beat any of you in Soul Calibur 2" he said.
"Oh please. I main Taki and you main Yoshimitsu" Sue replied.
"True. But I'll still win" BJ replied.
"Wanna bet" Sue asked.
"Oh it is on" BJ answered.
After a few rounds, Sue Ellen won.
"Damn. I guess I got careless" BJ said.
"Ya think" Sue replied.
Later, they saw a girl who was sitting all alone.
"Should we introduce ourselves to her" Brianna asked.
"I say we should" Mikki answered.
"Agreed" BJ replied.
They all went up to her and introduced themselves.
The girl just sat there and looked at her phone for a second before looking up at them.
"Oh hi" she said.
"Well hi there yourself. I'm BJ" BJ said as he introduced himself.
"I'm Fern" the girl said as she introduced herself.
"Nice to meet you" Mikki said as she giggled.
"I feel so relieved that Principal Burkley banned crop tops" Fern replied.
"Why do you say that" Brianna asked.
"It annoyed me that all of the girls in nearly every one of my classes showed off their stomachs" Fern answered.
"I knew I recognized you" Mikki said.
"Wait what? You're Mikki Rodgers" Fern asked.
"Yeah. Congrats on banning crop tops" Mikki answered.
The next day was Saturday and every student from Grand Haven High flocked to the mall.
"We'd better find something good" Mika said.
"Yeah. I'd hate to be left with the table scraps" McKenna added.
After a quick trip, they paid and left the mall.
"Wow. We got some great outfits" Mikki said.
"Yep. The big dance is coming up as well" BJ replied.
"Eh. I really don't care for that" Mikki said.
"Why not" BJ asked.
"Because I'm just not a fan of school dances" Mikki answered.
"You don't have to go with me. I'll find someone else" BJ said.
"Alright. Whatever" Mikki replied.
Once the weekend was over, everyone woke up, got dressed and went off to school and work.
"Have you given any thought on who you're gonna take to the dance instead of Mikki" Mika asked.
"I thought about asking Fern" BJ answered.
"You think she'll say yes" Ayanna asked.
"Yeah. I totally know she will" BJ replied.
Upon their arrival at school, they saw Fern by her locker.
"Hey Fern. My girlfriend can't make it to the dance" BJ said as he explained everything.
"Why do you want me to be your date in place of her" Fern replied.
"I dunno. But you seem like a fun person to be around" BJ said.
"That's true" Fern replied.
After thinking about it, she said yes.
"Okay. I'll pick you up on Saturday at six so we can go to dinner before the dance" BJ said.
"See ya then" Fern replied.
Once the day finally came, BJ got on his formal attire and went to pick up Fern. Luckily she was waiting for him outside.
"Hey BJ. I'm ready" she said as she got in the car.
"Shouldn't I meet your parents first" BJ asked.
"Fine. I'll let you meet them" Fern answered.
They went into Fern's house and her mom and dad were just sitting one the couch watching TV.
"Ahem. Mom. Dad. This is BJ" Fern said as she introduced her date.
"Hello there. I'm Mrs. Clifton" Fern's mom said.
"And I'm Mr. Clifton" Fern's dad said.
"It's nice to meet you both" BJ replied.
"It's nice to meet you too. Now let me take your picture with my daughter" Mrs. Clifton said.
"Mom! You're embarrassing me" Fern said as she started to blush.
"Oh come on sweetie. Your mom is just happy that you finally got a date" Mr. Clifton replied.
After Fern's mom took a few pictures, her daughter took BJ's arm and they went out to his car.
"Have a good time" she said.
"We will mom" Fern replied.
Upon their arrival, Fern's best friend Marina spotted them from a mile away.
"Hey Fern. Who's your date" she asked.
"This is BJ" Fern answered.
"He's cute. Is he your boyfriend" Marina asked.
"No. He's taken by Mikki" Fern replied.
"Oh okay" Marina said.
Just then, the DJ came out on the stage.
"What's good party people? I'm Funkmaster Ash and I've got some sick jams for tonight" she said.
The crowd cheered as she put on "Shut Up and Dance by Walk the Moon"
After a while, a slow song was put on and Fern and BJ ended up kissing during it.
"Oh my gosh. I'm so sorry" she said.
"It's okay Fern. You can kiss me" BJ replied.
"Alright. Come here you" Fern said as she dragged him into Smooch City.
"Awwwwwww. You two really make a cute couple" Marina said.
"But he has a girlfriend" Fern replied.
"True. But you can be just friends" Marina said.
"That's what we are" BJ replied.
After the dance was over, BJ dropped off Fern and headed back to the mansion.
"So how was the dance" Mikki asked.
"Let's just say it was great" BJ answered.
"Now that you're back, let's take a trip" Mikki replied.
"To Smooch City" BJ asked.
Without warning, Mikki pinned him down and brought him right into Smooch City.
