After school, I drove to the café. I arrived first, so I had a cup of tea. I patiently waited at our usual table.
Why am I feeling so nervous? It's just them three. Why am I so worried?
As expected, Ashton, John, and Lucas walked in. They approached me and took a seat. All three sat on one side, while I sat by myself.
"Lucie, are you feeling well?" Ashton questioned.
"Yes," I answered truthfully.
"Do you hate me?" she went on.
"No."
"Do you hate them?" she asked, pointing at John and Lucas.
"No."
"What's the problem, then?"
"I honestly do not know. Why don't you ask them?" I suggested.
"You embarrassed me, you slapped me, and you left me. You made me a fool." Lucas glared.
"Who's fault was that? You lied to me, didn't you? When I left you, did you do anything to stop me? No, because all you did was stand there. You just watched. You made yourself miserable."
Lucas was silent. It was John's turn to speak up, so I stared at him.
"You act like you don't need us," John paused, "but we were the ones who helped you get to where you are now."
"I don't sense any real quarrels with any of you. What was the point of this? John, you're probably angry at me for refusing your help with Thomas because you wanted us to be closer. You hoped that maybe something would happen, and that I'd fall in love with just how amazing you are. Truth is, there is this beautiful girl that loves you so much, and she's sitting right beside you. Lucas, you're angry at me because of what happened in the past. You're angry because I chose Nathaniel over you. What exactly did you do this time? You lied, and that wasn't the smartest move. It seems that the real problem that makes you two so upset is Nathaniel. Am I right? You think I'm making bad decisions because you either worry about me or you're still in love with me. As cocky as I sound, that's the truth. Isn't it? We've all been close friends for years, and the fact that you're letting one person and my feelings destroy it is downright messed up."
I was fuming, but I finally said what I wanted to say for so long. Everyone was quiet.
Ashton is now aware of John's feelings for me. I'm really sorry.
"If no one is going to say anything, I'll be going. I'm guessing none of you will be talking to me anymore, so I bid you farewell."
I got up and left.
The moment I stepped out of that café, I finally stopped caring.
