Elizabeth's POV
We started the best two months of our lives that moment. We wrote a list of all the things we wanted to do together before he left for where ever he was sent to. It was heart breaking to think about it, in sixty days I was going to lose my best friend, no he was more than my best friend. It was hard to explain, we were just Joe and Elizabeth. We had never been apart for more than a couple days but now to think that we were going to be apart for months at a time. I didn't think I could survive it. My heart was breaking into tiny little pieces and his was too, you could almost hear it in the otherwise empty infirmary, our hearts breaking together.
We were sitting on the bed. I was leaning against his chest as we stared at the notebook deciding what else to write on the list.
"What about, spend the day doing normal mundane tourist stuff?" Joe asked looking down at me.
"Like what? Visit the statue of liberty, see a play on Broadway that sort of thing?"
"Yeah. I think it could be fun to pretend to be normal for a day." He shrugged.
"Sounds perfect." I smiled up at him and wrote it down on the list.
5. Be tourists for the day.
He took the pen from my hand and scrawled on the bottom of the piece of paper.
Go for dinner at the best restaurant in the city on the last night we're together.
I looked up at him confused.  In response he said "To make our last night together something neither of us is going to forget."
"That sounds amazing." I snuggled into him. "I'm going to miss this." I admit quietly.
"What, using me like a pillow?" He chuckled.
"Well yes but just being together in our own little world like this." I didn't tell him this but being in his arms like this was my favourite place to be. Listening to his heart beat while we talked about nothing was where I was most happy.
"I'm gonna miss it too. You are the perfect little heater." He kissed the top of my head and we stayed like that silent just enjoying being together for awhile before we noticed Jace standing at the door.
-----------
Jace's POV
I stood watching them quietly. They were sat in each others arms once again like that was their natural place. They were both smiling and chatting quietly every once in a while Liz would scribble something down. She said something that I couldn't quite hear and he said something back before kissing her head. It was then that they noticed I was standing there.
"Hey Jace." Liz smiled happily and waved me over to join them.
"What you working on?" I asked noticing the notepad in her lap.
"We are writing a list of stuff we want to do before Joe has to leave." She showed me the list. There was some pretty typical stuff. Others must have been inside jokes or special memories I didn't understand. "Got any other ideas."
"Go on an epic adventure?" She glared at me.
"And how are we supposed to do that in two months?" She asked. I shrugged.
"Write it down Liza." Joe said seriously. "I have an idea." She shrugged and wrote it down in her perfect neat handwriting. Dad used to make her sit and copy out paragraphs from books until her handwriting was perfect. Although he was cruel to us both at times it was definitely in different ways. He used to make her do it timed. If she couldn't do it in the time limit he set, which was usually unreasonable, he would ignore her completely, wouldn't speak to her, wouldn't even acknowledge her existence. It would break her. She loved him so much, she lived to please him so having him pretend that she didn't exist was heart breaking. I dreaded to think what it did to her long term.
"Anything else that we can actually do?"
---------------
Joe's POV
By the time we'd finished the list we had about twenty things to do. Ranging from one last hunt to going sky diving which it a whole lot scarier than killing demons.
"Well I think we should start with the cinema trip. Right after I change alright?" Liza asked hopping off the bed.
"Oh no you don't. Get back in that bed missy!" Jace yelled catching her up in his arms before she ran out the room. "You have been unconscious for hours and you expect me to let you go out into the city with just your little buddy here. No offense Joe."
I shrugged. "He's right Liza. Just rest for the rest of today and we can go out tomorrow."
"Fine." She pouted before jumping back on the bed. "Will you at least fetch me some clean clothes? I've been in these pyjamas all day."
"Fine, what do you want?" Jace asked sighing.
"There's a pair of jeans and a hoodie in my bag near the top." She waved him away.
"Was that a ploy to get him to leave?" I asked her sceptical.
"I don't know, is it?" She asked me.
"That depends, how are you feeling?" I asked her smiling.
"Perfectly well." She smiled back.
"Well then lets blow this joint." I joked.
