my dad let me leave school early as he felt guilty. i wouldn't pass up on this opportunity. so as soon as i got home, i ran up to my bedroom, threw my backpack on the ground, and fell onto my bed. i was so stressed and confused.
why was he playing with my feelings like this?
i had to constantly remind myself that this was all just an act. he meant none of those things he said. he just said them in case someone was watching.

i was smiling like an idiot the rest of the day.
i had finally scored a date with the girl i really like. even though she has a boyfriend, if we're meeting up outside of school, it's a date.

right?

either way, i was happier than ever. i continued watching the clock. as the seconds go by, the faster my heart beats in excitement.

the last bell rang, signaling that it was time for dismissal. i got out of my seat and began gathering my books until seonsaengnim stopped me

"the bell doesn't dismiss you, i do."

i groaned and sat right back down. seonsaengnim dismissed every student except for me. at this rate i may not even get to the boba place.

she looked down at me and glared. after about a few eternities, she finally dismissed me. i quickly rushed out of the room.

"i hope you learned your lesson!" she shouted behind me.

i grabbed my backpack from my locker and made it outside as fast as i could. i hopped on my bike and checked what time it was

4:30. perfect

i smiled even wider than before. as i rode down each street, more and more people were staring at my cheeky smile. i finally arrived at the boba place.

i hopped off of my bike, walking with a little bit of pep in my step. i opened the door and looked around for ae. my facial expression saddened when i realized she was staring gloomily out of the window in a booth towards the back of the cafe.

as i walked towards her, she forced a smile.

"hi jungkook"

"ae what's wrong"

"n-nothing" she responded.

i sat down and grabbed her soft, cold hands and looked her in her eyes.

"you know you can tell me anything right?"

she nodded.

"so why don't you tell me what's wrong?" i asked.

"you see i don't know if i can. or even if i should-" she began.

"you can tell me anything and everything, your secret is safe with me." i flashed a smile towards her.

"o-ok..."
"well... taehyung and i..." she gulped. "we'renotreallydatingitsallanact" she breathed out.

"woah." i said.

even though she was talking faster than the speed of light, i could still understand her.

and at the same time i felt bad for her, i also felt a huge weight of relief lift from my back.

"but what's really confusing is that he always acts like we're a real couple even when people aren't even around. but i still know that we're not a real couple and this is all an act. at times he can be a real dick and at others he can seem like total boyfriend material. i don't know... i guess i'm just really annoyed and confused at this whole thing"

it took me a few seconds to process what she had just said. but i still had one last question,

"why did you guys start faking in the first place?"

she sighed. "well taehyung came over to my house one day and he kinda told my dad we were dating..."

"oh.."

i could see her trying to calm down by taking deep breaths. she clearly liked taehyung, but i wouldn't let that stop me.

the tips of my fingers lifted her chin to make us meet eyes. i leaned in for a quick peck on the lips and said "everything's gonna be okay. don't you worry" i smiled.
