I never thought that of all the people here I would be wished a Happy Birthday by the person who makes my heart flutter. I never expected this and gosh was I ready for it. Obviously not. It took me some seconds to respond.
'Umm....th-thank you.' I was confused. 'How did....how did you know it's my birthday?'
'I saw this note lying on my desk' She handed a sticky note to me written in a scrawl signed by Ibuki. 'Ibuki kun left it there. He wanted me to wish you since he would be.....ummm late. He just wanted someone to wish you when u came.' She said keeping her eyes down all this time.
I knew why Ibuki did it and I felt a brotherly affection towards him but what was the use of a greeting when she wasn't on normal talking terms with me.
'Umm....so' she looked up at me and when I looked at those coffee brown eyes, my heart literally skipped a beat and it ached. What was in those eyes that I couldn't read. '....so Hina san must have wished you already.'
'Hina?? Why would she wish me?' I asked, utterly perplexed. And this response caught her off guard.
'So you guys aren't close?' She looked at me with expectant eyes and my heart skipped another beat.
'Nooooooo, we aren't even close to being close.' I smiled genuinely.
'Oooohhh' She said it in a long 'O' and I got butterflies. So this was the reason, she must have seen me with her that day and thought I was dating her. Oh god that must be it.
'Actually me and Hina live close to each other. She shifted here last to last month. So that day I went with her.' I felt it important to tell her this. And I seriously wanted to smile so wide but I controlled it.
'Oh so that's what it was.' She said this and I could catch the glee in her voice.
'Thanks for wishing me on my birthday.😊😊' was all I managed to say before the bell rang.
