During the two weeks since Lionel had thrown her out, Viola hadn't expected things to get this bad; she had been labelled a lot of horrible things but what had made it worse was that none of the other WAGs had stood up for her.

Everyone had turned their backs on her and had refused to listen to her side of the story, including her own parents who had refused to speak with her after Lionel had served her divorce papers.

Naya, Heather and Blaine had gone round to Lionel’s house where Antonella now lived with him to collect Viola and Thiago’s things; they had done it while Lionel was away playing a friendly, they were the only ones that had stood by Viola after what had happened.

They knew that the brunette hadn't done anything wrong, right from the start she'd had been nothing but faithful to Lionel and completely changed her lifestyle for him and this was how she had been repaid.

Viola took a deep breath as she slipped off her 18ct white gold 1 carat diamond solitaire engagement ring and her sterling silver diamond matching hearts wedding ring and placed them into a white envelope.

She wanted nothing from her marriage to Lionel and that included any jewellery that he had ever brought her.

Viola had also placed the Swarovski lilac heart crystal pendant and 18k white gold with pavé diamonds daisy bracelet in the envelope; she sighed as she signed the divorce papers with her old signature, she was ready to leave Barcelona behind and start afresh back in New York.

“Viola, are you ready?” Naya asked as she cuddled Thiago to her, she couldn't believe that Lionel hadn't come to his senses about what had happened; it was clear that he was blinded by Antonella into seeing what she wanted him to see.

“As I will ever be,” Viola said softly as she sealed the envelope with everything that she was going to returned to Lionel; she licked her lips as she stared at it for a moment, the brunette had never thought that this was how her marriage would end.

Viola smiled as she moved to collect Thiago from her friend.

“I’ve signed the papers… everything in that envelope is to be returned to Lionel,” Viola said making Naya nod her head; the Puerto Rican had insisted that she be the brunette’s divorce lawyer. V

iola thought it had been quite fitting that the day that she ended her life in Barcelona that she wore black; her outfit consisted of a black cami with ruffle and elasticated waist and black skinny jeans paired with black heeled sandals with metal trim.

“I better be heading to the airport, Gracias for everything that you did for me,” Viola said as she hugged Naya as she felt tears prick her eyes; she couldn't believe that this was how it ended.

Viola ignored some of the looks that she got after she checked in her suitcases and other belongs; she knew that most of the people that were glaring at her, hated her because of the lies that Antonella had told the press.

The brunette cooed softly at her son as she cuddled him close, she knew that when she arrived at John F. Kennedy International Airport that it would be her sister and her fiancé picking her up.

Emilia hadn't deserted her sister and had asked her what had really happened between her and Lionel.

“Time to go,” Viola murmured as she shouldered her black patent large shoulder bag before she heard someone shout her name; the brunette paused before she realised that it was Shakira hurrying towards her.

“Thank God, I caught you before you left,” the blonde said as she smiled down at Viola, who stared at her confused; she didn't know why the other woman had come to see her now.

“I’m sorry about what happened with Messi, he’s an idiot,” Shakira said as she looked at Thiago; there was no denying that he was Lionel’s son and she couldn't understand how no one else could see it.

“Maybe when you get back we could have lunch, you’re still my friend no matter what,” Shakira said making Viola smile at her sadly, she was pleased to hear that she hadn't lost the blonde has her friend and she now felt horrible for what she was about to tell her.

“Shakira, I’m not coming back… I’m moving back to New York, Lionel and I are getting divorced,” Viola explained gently as she shifted her hold on her eight week old son; she knew that there was nothing for her in Barcelona anymore.

Shakira stared at her friend sadly; she had heard a rumour that Viola was leaving the country and she had hoped that it wasn’t true; however she could understand why the brunette was doing it.

“Okay, the next time I’m in New York we’ll met up; I’m sure Milan will want to see his best friend again,” Shakira said hoping that Lionel would one day realise his mistake for letting Viola walk out of his life like this.

Viola nodded her head as she shifted her son in her arms, she knew that Shakira understood why she was leaving; the hate campaign that had started was enough to drive anyone out of the country no matter how innocent they were.

“I have a flight to catch, I hope everything works out for you,” Viola said softly as she nodded at the blonde, she knew that she had to leave before someone convinced her to stay.

Shakira watched the brunette leave, she had a feeling that Antonella was going to regret the day that she messed with Lionel and Viola’s lives; she hadn't just destroyed their lives but she had caused a father to turn his back on his son.

Lionel stared at the contents of the envelope, his fingers holding Viola’s wedding ring as he stared at the signed divorce papers and the note that had come with them; tears stung his eyes as he moved to pick it up.

Viola had written that she hoped he’d be happy in the future and Lionel wasn’t sure if he could ever be now that she was gone; he didn't know who had been in his home but they’d removed every picture that he had of Viola and Thiago from his life.

His team-mates had cleared out his locker for him since he had broken down in training when he seen a picture of him and Thiago, he hadn't been able to cope and he wondered if maybe he’d acted a little too hastily when he had filed for divorce.

“Leo, Estella wants to spend time with you,” Antonella said as she walked into the kitchen, she paid no attention to his mood before settling her daughter into his arms.

Lionel had never once doubted Thiago’s paternity, however when he looked at his daughter, she didn't look anything like him.

“What this?” Antonella said looking at the papers that Lionel had in front of him, her eyes moved amongst them as she wondered why he had some woman’s jewellery.

Lionel shifted Estella on his lap before he looked at her.

“Viola signed the divorce papers… she didn't want anything and returned anything that she had,” Lionel said softly as he looked at the note again; his heart ached as he realised that this was the last piece of her that he had.

Antonella smiled thrilled at the news that soon Lionel would be free of Viola; she had already started organising their own wedding and had been dropping hints since she’d moved back in with him.
