Celia cooed as she cuddled Thiago, no one thought that they would ever make it to this day in peace after all that had happened so early in Thiago’s life; it was hard to imagine that Lionel and Viola had nearly divorced.
“I can’t believe that it’s been a year,” Celia murmured as she looked at Viola, who nodded her head as she stared at her son; she licked her lips as Lionel wrapped his arms around her, they couldn't believe that their son was one years old.
“I know, it seems like only yesterday that you were bring him home from the hospital,” Maria Sol said as she moved to sit next to her mother, the two of them fussed over the little boy before the doorbell rang; Viola looked at Lionel, who shrugged since they weren’t expecting anyone else.
Viola was wearing a vest in smudge dogtooth print and black high waisted skinny jeans paired black heeled sandals, they were having a small party for Thiago’s first birthday.
The couple pulled apart before Matías shouted that he would get the door, Viola moved to collect a six week old, Gabriela, from Jorge while Lionel watched his wife with a smile on his face.
Everyone had been thrilled to hear that they were renewing their vows for the second anniversary.
“Who was at the door?” Lionel asked as he heard his older brother return from answering the door, the footballer furrowed his brow when he didn't receive a response before he turned around to an unexpected sight.
Viola stared at her parents wondering what they were doing in her home, they had made it perfectly clear even with the evidence that Thiago was Lionel’s that they wanted nothing to do with their eldest daughter.
“What are you doing here?” Viola asked in shock as Lionel moved closer to his wife, he glared at the two people that had nearly destroyed his marriage to Viola because of their pettiness.
“Is that anyway to greet your parents? We are here for our grandson’s birthday, although we were upset that you didn't invite us and we had to find out about the party from Emilia,” Annabelle snapped as she looked at her daughter, her eyes flickered from Thiago to the little girl that Viola was holding.
Lionel moved to block her view of his daughter, he didn't want them seeing his children after the pain that they had helped cause him; they had nearly destroyed his marriage by keeping his messages from Viola when he had realised that Antonella had lied.
“You disowned me, so why are you here?” the brunette asked as she took a deep breath, she knew that they were trying to get under her skin and she wasn’t going to allow them to ruin her son’s first birthday.
Lionel signalled to his sister to take Gabriela from Viola and out of the room, he had a feeling that this wasn’t going to be pleasant and that it was only going to get worse from here; Celia handed Thiago over to Louisa, who with Maria Sol left the room.
“Yes we disowned you but they are still our grandchildren,” Leonardo said making Viola stare at her father as Lionel wrapped his arm around Viola, he glared at the law professor wondering why he was really here with his wife.
Annabelle looked at her husband before she looked at Viola and Lionel.
“We have spoken with the family lawyer and we can have this marriage dissolved in a couple of weeks,” Annabelle said making Viola glare at her mother.

Lionel took his wife’s hand as they sat facing her parents, he had no idea what had caused them to come to his home with that news but he wanted them gone without them causing him anymore trouble.
“What is it you really want? Me and Viola have been back together for nearly seven months so why are you here,” Lionel asked annoyed as he noticed the look on their faces as he admitted that he and Viola had gotten back together father their separation seven months ago.
Annabelle pursed her lips annoyed at the knowledge that Viola and Lionel hadn't divorced, she had hoped that the footballer would have seen sense when he had thrown Viola out of his home and would have ended their marriage.
“We want you to be happy Leo, you deserved better than to have a whore for a wife,” Leonardo said making his daughter stare at him stunned at his words; she couldn't believe her own father had just called her a whore, she felt Lionel’s grip on her hand tighten.
“Get out,” Lionel spat as he glared at the two before him, they stared at him stunned as Lionel tried to keep himself calm as he stared at his in-laws; he couldn't believe that they had just called their own daughter a whore.
“I want you out of my house… you don’t get to come here and call my wife a whore, Viola did nothing wrong and has always been faithful to me,” Lionel spat as he looked between the two across him, he didn't want them anywhere near his family after what they had put them through.
“Lionel, we just want what is best for you,” Annabelle tried to reason with him as she glared at her daughter, the brunette had yet to say anything about what they had said, it was clear that she was still in shock about what her father had said.
“You shouldn’t want what is best for me, you should want what is best for Viola; she is your daughter,” Lionel snapped disgusted with the couple before him as he got to his feet, he could see that his wife was hurting about what she had been called.
Annabelle pursed her lips as she looked at the footballer, she didn't want to admit that he was right and that they should have taken their daughter’s side in the separation; they had already lost contact with Emilia after she had married.
“I don’t want you coming anywhere near my family again, I love Viola and I love the children that we have together,” Lionel said as he looked at his wife, she swallowed as she looked at him; they both knew that Annabelle and Leonardo would never come around from what had happened.
Leonardo blinked as he looked at the footballer.
“You really going to stay married to each other,” he said while he got to his feet; it was clear that they had made a mistake by coming to the party when it was clear they weren’t welcome.
Lionel nodded his head as he turned his attention to Viola; she smiled at him as he offered her, his hand to help her to stand which she took before he pulled her close.
“Of course, we ever plan on renewing our vows on our second wedding anniversary,” Lionel said as he looked at his wife, he didn't care what anyone thought anymore; he loved Viola and he couldn't believe that at one point, he had hated her.
Viola bit her lip as she smiled at Lionel, she rested her head against his before she kissed him ignoring the devastated look on her parents faces; she didn't care that they suddenly felt horrible for what they had come to Barcelona to do.
“I love you,” Viola said softly as she ran her fingers through Lionel’s hair, she blinked back tears as he kissed her lips; they were happy and that was what mattered to her.
“I love you too,” Lionel said as he kissed her again, he couldn't wait to have the renewal of their vows.
