Gwen
How hard could watching a five year old be?
I've watched my younger brother before and that wasn't hard. But when I watched my brother I didn't really need to take of him since he slept the whole time. Plus when I babysit my brother I don't get get paid, all I do is eat and read while he sleeps.
This time is different.
This time I am babysitting Ange's five year old sister and I am really hoping she is a nice kid. I am not in the mood for a evil five year-old attack, nor will I ever be. Finn offered to drive me to Ange's house and I didn't decline. The only reason I'm babysitting Ange's sister, jessie, is because Ange is suppose to, but she has a date with Steve. So as the great friend that I am, I agreed. I just really hope it was a good choice.

"Are you sure you don't want me to stay with you?" Finn asks for the thrid time. I turn my head to look at Finn who is tapping his thumbs on the steering wheel while his wavy dark brown hair falls into his eyes. Finn seems to think I am not capable of taking care of a five-year-old. Which I am, I think...
"Nope, I am perfectly capable of doing this myself," I huff as we pull into Ange's driveway. Ange was very humble about her family's salary, her dad was a doctor and her mom owns a very popular bakery on main street. Ange lives in a huge southern style white house with a huge field right next door. Her mother and dad are on there annual trip to Mexico and Ange's brother is in his first year of college. Ange's brother, Gabe Jackson, was the most loved senior that ever attended my high school. All the girls wanted him and all the boys wanted to be him, and all the teachers wanted him in their classes. He was a huge charmer and a complete flirt. He is now playing college football and is a part of some stupid Frat house.
I find the key to her house under the vibrant green plant in a red garden pot, its always been hidden there ever since grade four. I open the huge white double doors and walk inside. The house like always was spot less and always smelt like freshly baked cookies even if no one was baking. I walk into the huge modern kitchen and check the time, 2:50. Jessie is will be dropped off by the bus in about half an hour. My stomach starts to grumble furiously and I decide to explore the stainless steal fridge. A smile quickly appears on my face when I see six perfect vanilla cupcakes with white icing and rainbow sprinkles sitting in the clean fridge shelf. That's when I notice a small note sitting next to the treats.
'Hey G, these cupcakes are for you. I hope you enjoy them and make sure to give one to Jessie. I know how much you love cupcakes. Love Mom' I read in my head. It's weird how she called herself Mom instead of Holly, Ange's mom. But it is still very nice of her to make me cupcakes and pay me for babysitting.
I don't hesitate to grab two cupcakes before I lean against the kitchen counter. I close my eyes and take a huge bit of the mouth watering cupcake, the flavours start exploding in my mouth. I am so happy right now I feel like dancing. I can feel the icing on my nose and on top on my mouth but I don't wipe it off.
"I hope you enjoying the cupcakes my Mom made for me," I familiar voice says and I quickly turn around to find Gabe leaning in the kitchen door way. My cheeks redden when I realize that the cupcakes weren't meant for me. Why was Gabe here? Wasn't he suppose to be in college playing football and hitting on girls at frat parties. "Gabe?!" I laugh and run towards him throwing my arms around him.
He laughs and hugs me back squeezing my tiny body in his huge arms. Gabe was the older brother I always wanted. Ange, Gabe, and I were very close when we were younger. We used to take baths together, have water gun fights, have lemon aid stands, they were my best friends. I lean back and stare at him for a minute and Gabe does the same to me. He has the same beachy strawberry blonde hair as Ange and dark forest green eyes. He is about 5'10 and has a very muscular build, I have to admit Gabe Jackson is and was a looker. "Gwen, you look great," He finally says eyeing me up and down. "You don't look to bad yourself," I say while smacking his chest. I havn't seen Gabe since last year at his grad, we both have changed since then. My hair grew out from the awful hair cut I got before summer started, my braces and acne are both gone now too. Gabe is a lot bigger than I remembered, his hair is shorter, but his smile and eyes are exactly the same.
"So what the hell are you doing here?" I ask confused by his random pop in. "I have a couple weeks off," He shrugs "Why are you in my house eating my cupcakes?" he raises his eye brows and smirks. I laugh and shrug "Because they looked tempting and I am babysitting Jessie," He nods and smiles at me showing off his deep dimples.
"I wish I could stay and talk but I am meeting up with someone. How about I take you to the party next Friday. College Frat parties are great but crazy high school parties are a whole different story," He suggests and winks at me before slipping out the door. I didn't realize how much I missed him until I watched his car pull of of the driveway and head down the empty street.
"GWEN!!! I AM HOME!!! AND I'M REALLY HUNGRY!!" I hear Jessie scream as soon as she enters the house. I wince and the sound of her screaming voice. "Ok Jessie, I'm in the kitchen." I reply. Jessie skips into the kitchen with a huge smile on her round face. "Hi Gwen." she sings and climbs onto a seat at the breakfast table. " Hey Jess." I smile back. Jessie was probably the cutest little girl on the planet, when she was in a good mood. She was wearing a denim over-all dress and a pink t-shirt under it. Jessie's bright orange hair is pulled up into two high pig tails and freckles are scattered across her precious face.
"Gwen is babysitting me, and I am hungry. And my head hurts because of my pig tails" Jessie sings to herself, she makes up songs and sings them all the time. I make her a ham sandwich and place on the wood table in front of her. She claps her hands in excitement. I giggle and make myself a sandwich too. By the time I am finished making my sandwich Jessie only has one bite left. "Done!" Jessie squeals and slips off her chair. "But you didn't eat the crust," I say pointing to her plate. "Ewe. I hate the crust. Can I go play with my pokemon cards?" She smiles waits for my response.
"Yeah sure, I will be in Ange's room doing homework," I say before she runs off. I grab my plate and back pack before heading up the main staircase to Ange's bedroom. I open the up the door to Ange's bed room and fall face first into her many, many pillows. Ange liked comfort and having twenty pillows on her queen sized bed made her happy, who was I to judge. I pulled out all my homework and spread it around me like a nest. I finished a couple pages of homework before I felt my eyelids get heavy and I started to fall asleep.
I woke up suddenly and decided I would be a good idea to check up on Jessie. "Hey Jess! Where are you?" I yell while walking around the first and second floor. Ange had a big house with a lot of rooms and I wasn't too sure which one Jessie was in. Great, my first real babysitting job and I lost the kid. I yelled for her a couple more times but I got no response.
That's when I started to panic. What if someone kidnapped her? What if she ran outside and she got hit by a car? My head was full of 'What ifs?'. I ran around the house yelling her name at the top of my lungs. I scrambled to find my phone and I unconsciously dialed a number. It started to ring and then I heard a muffled voice. "Who is this?" I ask because I honestly didn't know who I called. "Gwen, you called me," Finn says, now I could hear his voice. "Whats up? Hows the babysitting going?"
"Bad, very bad," I swallow. "Gwen. Are you alright?" Finn says though the phone. "No! I lost Jessie and I can't find her anywhere. Finn I need help!" I yell at him though the phone in panic. "Calm down Gwenie. I will be there is three minutes," Finn says in his smooth voice. I take three deep breaths and walk around the house once more.
I really did not deserve that delicious cupcake.
