Finn
I watched her. I watched her small breaths rise and lower her chest. I watched her soft lips slightly apart letting in the hospital air. I watched her, the room silent excepted for the sudden beeps from the machine Gwen was hooked up to. But she's alright.
I got here as soon has her mom called. Gwen was in an accident.
As I heard Amy's ,Gwen's mom, soft words through my phone my whole body stopped. I couldn't breath and I felt my head get light.
I regained my strength and ran out the door. Whipping open the car door quickly putting the car into gear. My brown leather jacket only covering one shoulder and my shoes half on my feet. I was at the Hospital five minutes later. I broke one-to-many laws on my way there.
So here I am. Watching her breath in a depressing white room, which I'm not suppose to be in. I might of possibly lied and said I was her brother.
"Hey Gwen," I whisper, even though I know she won't respond. I'm not even sure if she can hear me.
"I know you can't respond and that's ok. Because I'll do all the talking." I say leaning down and grabbing a book from my bag. "The hospital had to look through your purse and than they gave it back to me. I notices you have a lot of books in here so I'm going to read one to you, since I can imagine that's what you rather be doing right now,"
"Ready, okay here we go. Chapter 1" I say, glancing at her before I continue to read. And I swear I saw her smile, just a small one, but still a smile.
~
I've lost track for how longer I've been in here with Gwen, and I honestly don't want to leave.
"Finn," I hear a soft voice say and I stop reading and look up. Gwen is awake......wait.... Gwen's awake!
I jump up and stand by her bed cupping her face in my hand and brushing her golden hair behind her ear. Her eyes are still closed and but her eye lids are slightly twitching as I stand so close to her.
"My god Gwen," I whisper taking a breath of relief and happiness. She shakes her head and finally opens her eyes. Oh how I've missed those eyes. Her beautiful blue eyes, to some people her eyes might be ordinary and common. But to me they are the perfect shade of blue and the perfect soft shape.
She looks at me and sighs. "Finn, don't let any one else come in here, okay?" she whisper and slightly kiss the side of my hand. As her soft lips meet my hand my body goes still as a shiver runs up my spine and results to me rolling my eyes back into my head and losing my footing. I tumble backwards and knock into the side of the cushioned chair. I hear Gwen chuckle from her bed.
Who knew she had this affect on me?
I hear a slight knock at the door and I glance at Gwen beofore opening it. She shakes her head and gives me a look of panic. The way she looks gives my heart a punch in the stomach. Her soft long hair is messy and her face is cut up and bruised. My eyes lead down to her leg that's covered in a white cast.
My dear Gwenie. I open the door enough that they can see me but not Gwen.
As soon as the door is open all I see are flowers. Pink, purple, yellow, red, white, my face is smashed into the sweet smelling petals. I whip my head back to avoid swallowing any and remove the petals that ended up in my hair and mouth. I stare at the pink saliva covered petal before returning my attention to the evil human holding the dozens of flowers.
Mr. Ken-doll. Who else.
I put my elbow against the door blocking the entery into the room. "Finn?" Gabe asks, keeping a smile on his face, of coarse.
"Hey Gabe. Gwen is....um.....sleeping and doesn't want to be bothered." I say, even though I can tell he doesn't buy it.
"Finn, Buddy. I really need to see her. Its really important, I bought these flowers and everything," He says, staring me down.
"Gabe, you need to leave." I say, as I watch his face fall is disappointment, and mine grows into a smile," Sorry, Buddy. Oh and she kissed my hand. Right here." I whisper with pride, Pointing to the spot her lips kissed. Gabe's face turns red and he yells through the door.
"Gwenie! I will come back later," He says before placing the flowers on the ground and slowly mopping down the clean white hallway.
I watch him his shoulders slump and his feet drag as he walks past the closed doors.
I feel a sudden pang of guilt and I decide maybe it would be a better choice to let him see her. As much as I hate the thought, he might be what she needs right now,
I run up behind him and pat his shoulder. "Gwen, Asked for you," I lie and his whole face lights up he runs towards Gwen's room. I watch him disapear into her room. I take Gabe's place in the hallway, as I start to drag my feet and hang my head as I walk to the elevator.
She needs him. She deserves him. I think to myself as I run my fingertips over the spot Gwen kissed.
I'm not enough.
