(one week later)
Max woke up like he did any other day he got out of bed and got a cup of coffee from the Machine that he somehow managed to power in a tent coffee always managed to keep him calm
"Hey Neil wake up," said max taking a sip of coffee
"Wha" Neil rubbed his eyes and sat up and let his eyes adjust to the light
"What the fuck do you want max I was sleeping"said Neil obviously still tired
"Morning lets get breakfast hurry up and get dressed"said max finishing up his coffee
Neil got out of bed moaning and complaining about how it's too early to get up but max didn't care they both walked to the mess hall
"So You exited today is our last day we don't have to do anything today"said Neil swinging his arms forward
"Oh yeah I guess I mean the only thing I liked about this camp is that I met you and Nikki also David"said max muttering that last part he didn't want to seem to soft
That's when they opened the doors to the mess hall and a second later Nikki running up to them almost knocking them down to the dirty ground
"Guys guys guess what they did for us they got us muffins for breakfast on our last day they look so good"said Nikki jumping up and down
"So guys it's the last day of camp are we going to keep in contact or what I'll miss you guys"said Nikki not wanting to loss really her only friends she's ever had
"Yeah here's my email," said Neal writing it on a piece of notebook paper
"Max what about you"said Nikki stuffing the paper in her pocket in her overalls
"Here"said max handing Nikki a piece of paper with his grandmas phone number on it he always goes to his grandparents house so why not he spends most of his time there max was trying to hold back tears about this
"Ok so who what's a muffin now"said Neal looking at max he knew something was up he looked upset
"Yeah let's go They look really good"said Nikki sniffing the air max smiled at Nikki getting really excited about little things that happened he liked that Nikki didn't care about what others thought about herself

(Later that day)
David went to the flagpole and had Gwen's megaphone
"Calling all campers your parents are going to be here soon make sure you do not leave anything behind and remember all the good times you had here as a team"said David almost crying from the last day Gwen on the other hand was smiling ear to ear
"Oh thank god it's over"said Gwen
Nikki Neil and max were at the entrance of the camp talking to each other
"Oh I am going to miss you guys so much," said max actually showing emotions "you guys made this the best summer ever," said max on the verge of tears
"Nikalate lets go"Nikki's mom yelled from her car
"Well got to go bye guys see you next summer," said Nikki looking back and waving back to them
Then a car honked
"Oh it's my dad better go before he embarrass me again bye max"said Neal walking to his dads car and drove off and then there was just max all alone max then felt a hand on his shoulder it was David
"Hey max are your parents late"said David sitting Down next to the normally angry boy
"Yeah or they forgot about me again"said max mumbling that last part to himself
"Max your parents aren't coming are they," said David empathetically David got up and went to the phone in the councilors tent and called Max's parents but he also made another call to a friend of his

(One hour later)
Max was still sitting on the bench talking to David and Gwen then Max's dad pulled up in a rusty yellow car
"Get in shithead you made me late for work," said Max's dad angry he reached out his window and opened the backseat door
"He's not going with you guys," said David standing up, "he told us all the things that you do to him," said David standing up for max he didn't deserve this kind of treatment Max's dad got out of the car and walked up to David
"What I do with my son is none of your business got that Twiggy," said Max's dad grabbing onto Max's hoodie and dragging him to the car that's when Davids friend Lana who works for child services jumped out of the bush Max's dad was about to hit him in the car
"Stop you are under arrest," said Lana running to the car before he could get away she opened the doors and arrested Max's dad
"well he probably going to go into foster care because we can't make an official arrest until we have someone to check out the home environment and we already have someone on that so it won-" said Lana talking to Gwen before getting a text from her partner who was checking out the house right then
"She said that the house was in terrible condition and there were empty beer bottles everywhere," said Lana happy that they could arrest this scumbag
"Hey Lana what's going to happen to max now is he going to end up in foster care"said David not telling Lana his true plans David was planning on adopting max as his own David always wanted kids but never found someone who wanted to marry him
"Well probably but there's this good foster home for max until he gets adopted," said Lana in her car driving off to the police station David called max into the mess hall and told him to sit down
"Ok max am just going to say this but I want to adopt y-"David was cut off by max hugging him
"I take that as a yes"said David Patting Max's head that's when max realized that he was hugging David and quickly got off of him
