Jasmine's POV

I wake up the next morning and walk downstairs. Mom and Wilmer aren't up yet, so I help myself to some cereal. Today is the day that Mom goes to court against my birth father, James. I hope James gets sent to prison for a long time. I almost cry thinking about what he did to me, well, him and his stupid friend. Mom's decided to take Wilmer and I to the court as well, just in case, but we don't have to say anything unless it's needed.

"Hi Mom!" I exclaim as Mom comes down the stairs with Wilmer close behind her.

"Hey, Jazzy," she replies, giving me a hug.

"When do we have to go?" I question, looking up into her eyes. It's hard to believe that I'm almost as tall as her already.

"In an hour or so," she responds, releasing her grip on me.

I walk over to Wilmer and give him a short hug as well. "I'm glad you're coming with," I thank him.

He nods, "Couldn't miss it." The way he says it almost makes it sound like a good thing, but it isn't.

Forty-five minutes later, all three of us get into the car to go to the court. I'm pretty nervous since I have no idea what it will be like or if I'll be asked to speak against James, my birth father.

Arriving at the court, I am much more nervous, and I almost feel like throwing up. But, I grab Wilmer's hand as we walk into the room and sit off to the side, Demi closer to the podium. Then, James is lead into the room. Just the sight of him starts a minor panic attack in my system, but Wilmer helps me get over it. I just won't look at James unless I have to.

Let's hope that this is a short case...
