A police officer takes me and my few saved items, including my guitar, with him to the hospital and lets me into the waiting room. I sit in an uncomfortable, ugly-colored seat to wait and try to distract myself from the reality of the situation that I'm in.

"Family of Miss. Lovato?" a nurse calls into the waiting room.

I stand up and walk to the nurse. "Is my mom okay?" I ask.

"Well," the nurse says, "she is unconscious and is hooked up to a respirator to help with breathing. She is also extremely dehydrated, and although we think that she'll make a full recovery, right now she's still in a danger zone."

I nod, taking it in, "and what about Wilmer?"

"Mr. Valderrama is in a slightly better condition than Miss. Lovato," the nurse explains, "He was further from the smoke and therefore it had less of an effect on him."

"Is he awake?" I ask, nervously.

"No, but he should be soon," the nurse replies, "Why don't you come with me and see?"

I follow the nurse through the hall and into a normal hospital room with blue walls and white furniture. Wilmer is laying on the bed, hooked up to an IV and his heart rate monitor bleeps steadily. I walk over to Wilmer and sit on a chair beside his bed. If Wilmer doesn't wake up soon, I don't know where I'll stay.

"Just press the button if you need anything," the nurse orders before leaving the room.

I watch Wilmer closely as his chest rises up and down. Why did something so bad have to happen just after everything seemed alright again? I wonder what Demi's fans are thinking; I wonder if they heard about our house burning to the ground.

"Jasmine?" I hear and look at Wilmer. "What happened?"
