★Joslynn's POV★

*THUMP THUMP*

My eyes lazily blinked, while small breaths were taken into my lungs.

*THUMP THUMP*

My heart pounded against my chest, begging to be free; wanting to be put to rest.

*THUMP THUMP*

My brain was playing ping pong in my head, the balls were constantly hitting the inside of my head, giving me a killing headache.

*THUMP THUMP*

My legs dragging against the floor, stubbornly supporting my lifeless body.

*THUMP THUMP*

My lifeless body: with a purple bruise on my stomach, a dirty scratch on my cheek, a corrupt soul and a disorientated mind. My lifeless body tried to reach the door, but my knees buckled, my breathing paused and my eyes closed.

*THUMP THUMP*

I slowly opened my eyes, sunlight came flooding in from the hallway's window. I propped myself on my elbows, and slowly got up to my knees. I buried my face in my hands and silently shed my tears. I looked at the floor at what used to be my top, it was torn and the memories came back to me. I shook my head, trying to shake out the memories...it was no use. My tears fell faster, but I couldn't find my voice to cry. I forced myself to stop,I looked up at the clock and realized that I was late for school. I used all my strength and energy left to stand up and get myself ready. I took a shower, washing away all the dried blood from my skin, and to try to get rid of the unpleasant memories. I dressed myself in a red hoodie, and a pair of blue jeans, along with my red converse. I grabbed my bag and quickly walked out the door.

I managed to reach at the bus stop but the bus had already left. Despite me waving to the driver, he ignored me and continued to drive. I sighed sadly and began to walk. Every step I took, my stomach pulled, I felt my stomach was gonna burst open if I didn't stop, but I can't afford to miss school. It's my last year in high school, I don't wanna miss it; although I get bullied and made fun at, it's still better than home. Finally, after what felt like eternity of pain, I reached the gates of the school. To my disappointment, I missed first period but there's still the rest of the day. As I entered the halls, I immediately notice the snickers, stares and whispers coming from groups in the halls. I tried my best to ignore them and hold my head up high.

"Look, the mute finally came to school." The meanest, most rich, and most prettiest girl in school said. Her name is Bianca Miller. She was a thin, fair skinned girl, her hair was brown and her cold brown eyes stared deep into your soul. She was medium height.

I turned my head away from her and continued to limp to my class. I felt something cold on my back, I came to realize that Bianca poured her water on my hoodie. I hissed at the water touching my bruises. I turned to face her with tears brimming my eyes, she laughed and walked away. I went into my locker and took out my jacket, I then went into the bathroom and took off my hoodie. I had a strapless top underneath, so I just wore the jacket over it. I looked into the mirror to see the pathetic girl I was. Inside, I was disgusted with myself, I was a disgrace to myself. Wiping the lone tear on my cheek, I exited the bathroom and went to History class.

Upon entering the class, there was only one available seat left, it was at the back of the class and I was happy for it. I made my way to the back of the class, ignoring the snickers and judging glances thrown in my way. I finally made it to my seat and sat, I took out my notebook and realized I didn't do my homework. Mrs. Greene was gonna give it to me today. I couldn't tell her that my dad abused and raped me last night. The only reason I put up with my parents is because I have no where else to go, I have no support system.

"Class." Mrs. Greene greeted as she entered, she didn't look at the class directly but glanced at us with the corner of her eye. "If you didn't do my homework, you might as well take a detention slip right away."

There were only two persons in the room, including myself, who got up. Mrs. Greene seemed shocked to see Alisa Holter stand, but when she saw me, she shook her head and rolled her eyes. She ignored Alisa and came straight to my desk and handed me a detention slip. She then returned to her desk and sat, nodding her head to Alisa, silently telling her to sit. I remained standing, which caught her attention.

"Anything else, Miss Joslynn?" Mrs. Greene, I shook my head. "Then sit!" She ordered, harshly.

"Miss, did you honestly think a mute like herself will answer you?" Bianca mocked. Mrs. Greene didn't reply verbally, but her expression told me she was agreeing with Bianca.

"I want chapter 5 read, and an essay on my desk by tomorrow." She told the entire class. "No excuses." She eyed me for the last part.
