✡️Joslynn's POV✡️
Alisa walked me home, I didn't want her to but she insisted. She kept arguing, that I hadn't realized that we were already out of the school and walking towards my house. We talked on my way home...well she did all the talking, I did all the writing. She was in the middle of a sentence when she stopped and looked towards something. We were on the sidewalk near my house, there was a crowd of neighbors surrounding my house, flashing lights of police cars and men wearing white suits and white masks. Alisa nudged my shoulder, asking what was happening, but I didn't know. I rushed across the street and to the door, but a male officer held me back.
"Miss, you can't go in there. It's a crime scene!" He told me. I took a step back.
A crime scene? In my home?
"What's going on?" Alisa asked, as she came by my side.
"A person was murdered in this house." He answered her.
Murdered?! Who was murdered?
Where are my parents? What's happening?!I began to panic as thoughts were racing through my mind, nothing made sense. I could sense that there was something wrong, something felt off. Something in my mind told me to look inside the house, just one look. So I looked, and my mind shut off. Inside the house, my home, was a body lying lifeless, its skin was pale, its hair covered its face, a knife to head, and bruises to the face, blood was surrounding the body like an ocean. She was dead. I knew she was dead. My mom was dead...
Something inside me broke free from its cage, it wasn't hiding anymore, it was free. I opened my mouth, and for the first time in seven years...the real Joslynn Couture spoke.
"M-Mom!" I whispered, it was loud enough for the officer, as well as, Alisa to hear. My throat was on fire, my insides were dry but I didn't stop.
"My mom!" I cried out. Tears brimmed my eyes, but it didn't matter. My mom was dead, I needed to be with her.
"Jossy, stop! You're in pain." Alisa tried to warn me, but I didn't want to listen.
"Miss, is that your mom?" The officer asked. I nodded. "You're gonna have to come with us."
"Officer!" Alisa snapped. "Can't you see she's in pain?! Her mom is dead and she just used her voice after many years. She needs a doctor right now."
Alisa was hiding me behind her, she wasn't going to give me up without a fight. I was sure of that.
"One will be called in at the station." The officer told her, he tried to grab my hand but Alisa won't let him.
"Let's do this, I'll take her to the hospital and when we're done, she'll come to the station to answer your questions." The officer was hesitating, debating it in his head. "If you want you can send a car with us."
"Well..." He was debating the idea in his head. "Okay."
