✡️Joslynn's POV✡️
Ah, the first morning back at Alisa's. I've missed this place, it really has begun to feel like my own home. I woke up extra early, hours before school. I guess I'm kinda excited. I slipped on my fluffy bedroom slippers and stood from my bed with a long yawn. I exited my room and embraced the coolness of the morning air. I went downstairs and into the kitchen, I entered the pantry and began rummaging through, looking for ingredients to make a delicious breakfast. I gathered the necessary ingredients and went back into the kitchen, I placed them on the counter top and turned my back to get a pan from the cupboard. Suddenly, I heard footsteps behind me and jumped in surprise to see Ace.
"You're back?" He seemed surprise to see me.
"I am." I nodded. "And good morning."
"You look good." He complimented. "That vacation did you good."
"It wasn't exactly a vacation." I told him. "So how have you been? I heard you got a new girlfriend."
"Something like that." He told me with an unsure tone.
What does he mean by that? Are they dating or not?!
"So she's not your girlfriend?" I asked him.
"I can't explain it." He said in an agitated tone. "Let's just move on from this topic, I really don't want to talk about this."
"Okay." I nodded in disappointment. "Can I ask you a question?"
"What?"
"Um...do you like-" I hesitated.
Should I ask him? I don't think I should. What if it messes things up between us? I need to know! But I can't... I shouldn't.
"What?" He asked pulling me out of my thoughts.
"Do you like your eggs scrambled or fried?" I nervously chuckled, covering up my original question.
"Scrambled, but I'm not feeling for breakfast." He told me and began walking away, I ran forward and grabbed his hand. He tensed up at my touch. I released his hand immediately.
"Sorry, but you should eat. It's not healthy to skip breakfast." I told him with pleading eyes.
"You've skipped breakfast for years, you're still alive." He said in a harsh tone. I took a step back, shocked by his tone. He didn't seem to care and went on his way. I went to the stove and made breakfast, Ace's words still ringing in my ears.
"HEY JOSSY!!!!!" I thought it was Alisa, but the voice was from a guy. I turned around and Jacob charged at me and crushed me into a bear hug.
"Jacob...I...need...air." I wheezed out.
"Oh sorry!" He laughed and released me. "I'm just so happy you're back! Now you can help me win a argument against Alisa!"
"Jacob, I haven't even won an argument against Alisa." I told him with narrowed eyes. "What makes you think that if we join forces that we'll finally win?"
"It won't hurt if we try." He encouraged.
"It just might." I told him.
"Come on Jossy," He lifted me into the air. "be positive!" I laughed as he put me back onto my feet.
"Jacob, you'll kill me!" I laughed and playfully hit his arm.
"No I won't! I'll be your knight and protect you from all harm and evil, my princess." He bowed before me and I laughed at his childishness.
"Stop joking around Jake!" I hit him again and went to eat my breakfast.
Did I mention that Jacob and I became best friends? He's just so fun! We instantly became friends and now we're very close.
"Why can't I be a jester and a knight?" He asked with a pout.
"Because jesters don't fight dragons, they get eaten by dragons." I told him and pinched his cheek.
"That's why I'm also a knight, I can slay the dragon and make it seem funny. I have that talent, ya know?" He told with a proud smirk.
"I'm sure you do but don't go around slaying lizards or fighting crocodiles. You've already been in trouble for that." I reminded him. "And don't try to slay teachers who look like evil wizards!" I warned him.
"Why not?!" He cried.
"Because there are such things called restraint orders! And Mrs. Jones already has one against you!"
"She looked evil!" He defended.
"She's sweet and kind. She has kids!" I yelled at him.
"You can never tell what might happen." He folded his arms across his chest. I face palmed myself and walked away from the conversation. I shouldn't have done that. Jacob hates when you don't pay attention to him, he's like a puppy. He held me from behind and refused to let me go.
"Jacob!" I whined. "Let me go!"
"Not until you pay attention to me!"
"Fine," I rolled my eyes. "I'll pay attention to you." He released me and started tickling me. I laughed so hard that I fell to the floor, I tried to block his tickles but he was too strong.
"Jacob! STOP!" I laughed and tried to push him away.
"What's the magic word?" He asked mischievously.
"That's-n-not fair!" I wheezed. "I hate that!"
"Say it or I won't stop!" He threatened.
Alisa woke up and came downstairs. She was still in a dazed state and passed the tickle fest without even noticing. She went into the kitchen, spent a few minutes inside, and came back out with a cup of coffee and a plate of eggs. She passed us again, but she stopped for a second, looked at us, laughed and left.
"J-Jake p-p-please!" I begged, tears beginning to form in my eyes from all the laughing.
"The magic word first." He demanded.
He wasn't gonna give up unless I said the 'magic' word.
"Fine!" I took a breath. "Humpty-moon-solly!"
Yep, a weird word, I know. Jacob made it up after watching a few nursery rhymes and Monster Inc. He now uses that word for all major things: his password, secret code and even the name of his cat. He stopped tickling me and I was glad to suck in some air. I sat up and took a breath. Then I smiled at Jacob and punched his arm.
"OW!" He yelled in pain.
"That's payback."
"I'm sorry!" He pouted and gave me a quivery lip. My heart softened and I forgave him with a big hug.
"Are you two done with that sh*t?" Ace asked. We turned to him, he seemed annoyed and angry.
"What's with you?" Jacob asked.
"I'm tired of these idiotic games." He said coldly and walked out of the house.
"Don't mind Ace," Jacob comforted. "he's been moody for a while now. I don't know what's up with him."
