✡️Joslynn's POV✡️
"Where were you at 11:30 am today?" A female officer asked. She was a short, black haired, brown eyed lady, she looked like she was in her mid twenties. She had a small mouth, and a straight nose, she didn't wear an uniform, she wore a blue blouse with black pants.
Ever since I entered the station, I was placed in an interrogation room. Alisa had been waiting since we got here, two hours ago. I was sitting on a steel chair, inside the room was filled with a clock hanging from the wall, a steel table, a couple chairs and a fan on the wall. It was really hot inside the room, I was sweating profusely. There was another officer in the room, a man, he looked like a trainee, he stood in a corner and scribbled in her notepad. He didn't speak.
"I was at school." I told her. All my fear and nervousness was gone. I had nothing to be afraid of, I have an alibi, I had nothing to do with my mother's murder. I barely felt sorrow for her, I didn't miss her as I thought I would, she hasn't done anything for me. All she has given me is pain...lots of pain. I hate her for it, but I still love her; I hate the woman who beat me, made me sleep in a wet basement, I love the once caring mother I had. I feel kinda evil for thinking that, but at the same time, I think I have a right to be mad at her.
"Where is your father currently?" She asked. I became uncomfortable.
"I don't know, maybe at work."
"You don't sound too sure." She said, eying me suspiciously.
"I don't really have a good relationship with my dad...it's complicated." I told her, I technically didn't lie.
"I understand." She nodded. "Does your mother have any enemies? Any arguments with anyone?"
"Not that I know of." I replied. She sighed, getting frustrated. "I'm sorry, I don't really get involved in my parents' business."
"It's alright, you're a teenager, you probably don't wanna even see your parents sometimes." She laughed, I managed to force a laugh. "How about a few more questions, just to be safe."
"Okay." I nodded.
"I heard you just used your voice for the first time today, how did you feel?" She asked. It took a while to answer.
"Surprised, I never thought I'd ever hear my voice again. I guess when I saw my mom, it came out." I stopped and looked down. A wave of emotion came over me, and I tried not to cry.
"It's okay, I understand it must be difficult to lose a dear one." She placed a comforting hand on my shoulder. I caught myself, and managed to smile.
"Is there any way of contacting your father, I think he should know." She told me.
"I'm sorry, I don't know. He's usually gone all day, I assume he's at work...but I don't know if he even works." I told her with an awkward tone.
"Oh." She sounded surprised. "Okay then, I'm sure he'll see the police tape and come to us. You do know that you can't go back into that house, right?"
OH MY GOD! I completely forgot about that.
But where am I gonna stay?"Yeah." I told her in a not so convincing tone.
"I'm sure your father has somewhere else to stay." She smiled. "One more question before you leave."
"Sure."
"Do you have any idea who might have killed your mother?"
Of course I do. My father, Joe Smith. Who else could've killed her? He had a motive, the anger and he's heartless...he can surely do this.
"I have no idea." I lied, I tried to sound convincing.
"Okay then. You're free to go." She said. I was relieved. I got up from the chair and headed for the door.
"Wait!" I halted in my tracks. I turned to face her. "Our officers found this note in her hands, it was addressed to you." She handed me a sealed envelope.
"Thank you." I said to her with a smile and exited the room.
I came out and found Alisa still sitting in the seat I left her in. She looked tired and worried. As she saw me, her eyes lit up and she jumped out of her chair and approached me.
"How'd it go?" She asked me, concern laced her voice.
"Everything is fine, I'm free to go." I told her, her face lit up with a bright smile. "But, I have no where to go tonight. My dad is unreachable and I have no idea where he is."
"That's alright! You can stay at my house!" She got excited.
"Won't your parents mind?" I asked her. She shook her head.
"They're out of town. It's just me and Ace." I wasn't too pleased with the idea.
"Don't worry, if Ace puts a finger on you, I'll kill him!" She said with a creepy smile. But it was a good offer.
"Okay." I agreed.
"Yay!!" She became excited and started jumping like a little kid on Christmas.
