Brie’s P.O.V

I guess one small positive of having Colby stay at my house is that in the middle of the night I don’t have to sneak over to his house and set up the prank I have laid out for him. In fact, all I have to do now is set my iPod alarm, creep out of my bed once it goes off, and walk across the hall to his room. Easy peasy lemon squeezy. Just the mere thought of my prank brought my lips up in happiness once I reached my locker the next day. I had quickly shoved everything into my locker and got the things I need for my first class, when something walking down the hall caught my eye. I looked over and saw Colby.

Everyone was looking at him and I was trying to hold in my laughter, for Colby had neon pink hair and I knew he was trying to keep his mouth closed, which means the green dye I put in his toothpaste must have worked. His eyes were scanning the hall, looking for his prey, also known as me. I wasn’t going to hide like I sometimes do because I wanted to see his green teeth. Soon, my giggles gave me away and he came storming over to me.

“You think this is funny?” He asked me in a harsh tone. I straightened up and looked at him with a grin from ear to ear, but I held in my chuckles.

“You know Colby, I love the new hair." his eyes narrowed to the point where I couldn’t see his pupils. He put his hand on my locker, closing it. The anger that came off him made me realize that he was truly upset.

“All I did was color your teeth, now you have my hair pink and my teeth green!” He hissed. I wanted to laugh as he spoke with his colored teeth. I think he sensed that I was seconds from doubling over and he let out a little growl. There was snickering from behind me and I knew it was Elliot by the deepness of the voice.

“Dude, what happened?” Elliot asked as he came to my side and smirked at Colby. Colby moved his hand off my locker and just sighed before facing his friend.

“I will just let you guess.” Colby said in an angered tone. Elliot raised his hands in surrender.

“Yo, man I was just wanted to know” Elliot stated. Colby told him he was sorry for going off on him like that and they began to talk. My eyes wandered around the hall and I saw Kimberly enter the school. She had a smile plastered on her face and I also noted that her lips looked swollen. This made me raise an eyebrow. I haven’t heard of Kimberly having a boyfriend, maybe she just got one?! When she approached me I gave her a quizzical look.

“Kimmy, who have you been kissing?” I questioned. I noticed Colby and Elliot go silent and look at her as I did. She started to blush and shake her head at me.

“No one.” she resorted to saying. My eyes rolled as she bit her lip, indicating she was lying.

“Those swollen lips say otherwise.” I spoke. Kimberly’s eyes flashed over to Elliot and I looked over at him to see he was glaring at her. My mouth perked up into a smile. “You and Elliot!” I shrieked, Kimberly’s eyes went wide and she began to shake her head ‘no’.

“I wouldn’t dare kiss her.” Elliot murmured before storming off down the hallway. I furrowed my eyebrows, not sure of what was going on. Kimberly seemed to be just as confused as I was. I ended up shrugging my shoulder and made a mental note to see if Colby knew what was up later. Speaking of Colby, I looked over him to see he was staring at me with anger. I beamed at him knowing he was just plotting what to do next with me.

“Hey, Brie.” a man's voice said from beside me. I twisted around to see Emo Boy from the newspaper staff. Only now he looked slightly different, I saw that he wasn’t wearing his dark jeans today, instead they were light blue jeans. He also had on a white shirt, his hair was still its black inky color as I remember it. As for his eyes, they were the most vibrant blue, yet I could tell it was his natural eye color.

“Hey, you.” I said not really knowing his name. He chuckled.

“My name is Mason.” he informed me.

“Well, hey, Mason.” I proclaimed.

“I’m Kimberly, thanks for asking.” Kimmy said from next to me. I just rolled my eyes at her, and Mason greeted her.

“Anyways, you weren’t at school yesterday and we had talked about me coming over to your house and working on the article.” I wanted to facepalm myself at this moment for it had slipped my mind while I was sick about our plans.

“Crap, Mason, I am so sorry I was sick and forgot. How about today you can ride home with me or follow me with your car and we can work on it after school at my house?” I suggested. He nodded at my words.

“Great, so I’ll see you around.” he stated, I bobbed my head up and down and with a grin he walked away. It was silent between Kimberly, Colby and I for a second before Colby cleared his throat and looked at me with cold eyes.

“Really?! You are still mad at me?! Get over it, the dye comes out in two days.” I admitted and then dragged Kimberly with me to my first class. We took our normal seats, in the back. I looked over at Kimberly to see she was pulling out a mini pillow from her purse. “Wow, already going to sleep?” I quizzed. She looked at me.

“Spanish bores me, and it also makes my brain hurt. Me no likie.” she proclaimed and then rested her head on the pillow. Knowing she was going to drift asleep I looked away. When our teacher entered the room she began her lesson on verbs, which I tuned out, wishing I’d brought my pillow too.

By the time lunch came I was tired and wishing I had a bean burrito. “Kimberly, can you take me to Taco Bell?” I asked her when we entered the lunch room. She was fixated on her phone and didn’t hear me. “Who are you texting?” I asked when I saw she was smiling like a kid with a lollipop. Quickly, she shut her phone and gave me an innocent look.

“No one and I’m not taking you to Taco bell, I … I … I have to go to the library.” she muttered and bit her lip.

“You’re lying.” I stated. Kimberly glanced around the cafeteria, avoiding my eyes.

“I have to go.” with that she dashed out of the room. I stood there wondering what to do, because she just ditched me and my craving for a burrito. My eyes caught the sight of Emo Boy, I mean Mason. I walked over to him.

“Hey, Mason.” I said coming over to him. He looked up at me.

“Hi.”

“You wouldn’t by any chance have a car?” I asked.

“Yeah, why?”

“Can you please take me to Taco Bell?”

“Isn’t it against the rule to leave the school grounds during lunch?”

“Rule are meant to be broken.” I honestly told him. He shook his moppy pitch black hair at me with a chuckle.

“Jails are meant for imprisonment.” he replied.

“Touché, but please, take me!” I pleaded with him. He grimaced playfully before standing up and tossing his lunch tray on the trash. “Thank you!” I shrieked as I gave him a hug. I could feel his chest rumble as he laughed at me and my antics. When walking out of the lunch room I noticed that Mason put his hand around the back of my neck and pulled me closer to him as we walked. I couldn’t believe it but I actually didn’t mind even if I knew it was a flirtatious move. We were seconds from leaving the school when I stopped in my tracks. Mason looked at me. “I have to go pee!” I shouted in the empty hall before running into the restroom by the front doors.

When I was done in the restroom I washed my hand and was drying them when I heard loud noises from the hall. Throwing away the paper towel I went back to the hall and what I saw made me go wide eyed.
