Happy Halloween!!!

Kimberly P.O.V

The second I heard the doorbell my body leaped off my bed and raced to the front door. I'd no idea why I was so excited and nervous to answer the door. Maybe, it is because I was secretly hoping it was Sheldon at the front door. Part of me has been dreaming that he'd notice I wasn't at school today, and decided to come over and tell me how sorry he was and then give me one hell of a makeup kiss.

Disillusionment ran through me though, because the moment I opened the door, it wasn't Sheldon standing in front of me, but a, teary eyed Brie. Her hands were cupping her mouth as tears cascaded down her rosy cheeks. Brie’s normal vibrant green eyes were now clouded over and a tad red.

Without notice, I stepped forward and embraced her in a hug.

Brie wrapped her hands around my waist and started to sob on my shoulder, all while I kept patting her back in comfort.

It wasn’t long before she started to sniff, indicating she was nearing the end of her cries.

I released her and stepped back, with a half smile on my face. My lips parted to speak, but I shut them, figuring she should be the one to tell me what is wrong without me asking. Placing a hand on her back, I lead Brie in my house. I closed the door and walked into the kitchen with her in trail.

Going over to the stove I took the kettle off of the eye and carried it over to the sink. Brie remained silent as I filled the teapot with water. “I’m going to make some herbal tea,” I informed Brie. Though I knew I didn't have to tell her this because every time she comes over upset I make her some calming tea. Before stopping the cool water from entering the kettle I made sure to add enough water for me to have a cup too.

Placing the pot on the eye of the stove, I turned the nozzle and the pot started to slowly heat. As the water was becoming hot, I got two mugs out of the cabinet. Going over to the sugar bowl, I added the perfect amount of sugar to sweeten the herbal tea.

My mind felt clouded with thoughts of what could be going on with Brie ... and not to mention the thoughts of Sheldon. I tried desperately to push the thoughts of Sheldon out of my mind, and focus on my dejected friend.

As the teapot gave off a loud whistle, I dropped the mixed bags of herbs in both coffee cups before rushing off and getting the pot off the heat.

The whistle subsided and I lifted the cap off the spout. Hot, burning steam came dashing out of the spout.

Gradually, I poured the boiling water into the coffee mugs.

Within mere seconds the water changed a dark brown color, and I knew the tea was now finished.

Gripping both handles tightly, I gave one to Brie who was now leaning on an adjacent kitchen counter.

She all too eagerly took the steaming cup. Her face moved over the cup, as she inhaled the calming honey and lemon scent that the steam gave off. Brie’s, now soft green eyes glanced over at me with a little smile. “Thank you,” she voiced. I could tell her voice was trying to mask the sadness that was now rotting inside of her.

With a mute nod I took a sip of the tea. After a minute Brie followed in suit.

When we reached the bottom of our cups, Brie sat her cup on the counter and gave me an emotionless stare. Her pink lips separated and she let out a sigh.

It was then that I realized she was ready to talk. I took both our mugs and placed them in the sink.

Simultaneously, we both moved into the living room. Brie and I took a seat on the large red sofa that laid in the middle of room. Reaching over, Brie grabbed the black quilt that was swung over the back of the couch. She wrapped herself in the material and then gazed at me for a few seconds.

I’d full knowledge that at this very moment it was time for me to ask, “What happened?”

Her eyes seemed to gloss over, tears were pleading to come out. “I found something,” she whispered as if it was a secret.

I couldn't help but lean in, as if she was reading a mystery novel and was about to get to the good part.

Moving her arm, Brie swiped some of her hair that had fallen in front of her face. “I was in his room-”

I interrupted her from clarification, “Colby’s?”

Her head bobbed up and down slowly, “Yeah ...” with that said she seemed to go into a trance. Her eyes aimlessly stared at black blanket.

In irritation of her not continuing her story, I waved my in front of her face. “Hello? Earth to depressed friend on my couch!”

Shaking her head, Brie snapped out of it and looked up at me, “Oh, sorry. Ummm, what was I saying?” She asked.

I gave a small huff, “You told me that you were in Colby’s room.”

“Oh, yeah,” Brie’s voice dipped as sorrow filled her tone. “He was in his closet, getting some clothes for me.” I was going to question why Colby was getting clothes for her, but I bit my tongue. “When I got nosy and ... and I looked on his desk.” My body moved forward a little more as Brie’s voice got lower and my interest got higher. “I saw a-”

Just then the doorbell sounded and both of us snapped our heads in the direction of the front door.
