Brie’s P.O.V

I was starting to get really ticked off by Mason. He kept following me around all day saying he was sorry and that it wasn’t what it looked like. I had to laugh, because how was his fist mere inch from Colby’s face not what it looked like? I knew that if I hadn’t spoke out that Mason would have punched Colby. Something inside of me was burning with anger for I hated the thought of Colby being hurt, unless I’m the one causing the pain, cue evil laugh.

As I was sitting in my last class of the day a folded piece of paper was tossed on my desk. My eyes scanned around in the direction of where it was thrown to see who put it on my desk. I saw that two seats beside me was Mason. He glanced at me with saddened eyes. Rolling mine I was tempted to ignore the note, but curiosity got the better of me. With a huff I unfolded the paper and read.

Brie

I know you are mad at me, but I’m just letting you know that Sheldon called a newspaper staff meeting after school.

And by the way, I will get that talk with you to explain what you saw…

-Mason

Biting my bottom lip I stuffed the note in my messenger bag. He had another thing coming if he thought I would talk to him any time soon.

No one messes with my friend …

Wait? Colby is not a friend … No, he is an enemy.

Yet, why do I feel so hurt and angry right now when it comes to Mason and the fact that he almost hit Colby…

Maybe, I need to go to the doctor with a case of insanity, for I don’t care about Colby as a friend. No, he is nothing more than an enemy…

A hot, cute-

What?! Brain stop! Colby is neither cute nor hot … He is an ugly, brainless, evil man, nothing more and nothing less.

Walking into the meeting I saw that Sheldon was talking with a fellow geek friend of his. My mind was telling me I shouldn’t be here. No, I should be racing golf carts at the local golf course or dressing up as Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker with Kimberly and having an epic battle in the middle of my street. None of that includes being stuck in a room with guys that probably have never been kissed.

Scanning over the room I was debating if I should leave, but something caught my eye. In the back of the room was a brunette girl typing on her cell phone. I knew that face … Kimberly! Has she come to rescue me from boredom?!

I found myself literally running over to her. When I sat down next her I smiled over at her. “You came! Now I can have some real fun here!” I stated.

“Huh?” Kimberly asked as she took her eyes off her phone. “Oh, hey.” she replied once she fully looked at me.

“What’s up with you?” I quizzed. Kimberly shrugged her shoulders.

“What do you mean?”

“You have been acting different, and don’t think I buy that whole ‘I don’t have a boyfriend’. I can tell you are hooking up with someone.” I watched at her brown eyes danced across the room, completely avoiding my gaze. I was holding it in not to rattle her for answers.

“Brie, stop trying to read in between the lines.” she spoke, still not even looking my way. When I was about to speak some newspaper dweeb came up to us.

“What do you want, dork?” I questioned. The guy narrowed his honey brown eyes at me through his glasses.

“Kimberly, I just came to say it’s nice to see you back, we hope you start coming to the meetings again,” I furrowed my eyebrows at the nerd’s words.
