Kimberly’s P.O.V
Time seemed to pass by very slowly as Ella led me to her home. Her confession about her father didn’t truly surprise me, because like I’ve said before, I have always suspected Sheldon’s dad to be abusing him. But, it did pain to know that Sheldon was helplessly stuck with his father, the principal of our school, every day until he turns eighteen. I knew very well that his dad had power, not only at school but in the political world. All this equals that his father would get away with his actions towards Sheldon. Anger boiled through my veins as I also thought of how his father might be hurting Ella, even though she didn’t look abused, the thought still crossed my mind.
Walking on a gravel path, I looked forward to see a simple gray colored house in front of me. It was all too familiar, for it was Sheldon’s home. The one he asked me to park in the driveway as he ran in to grab something. It was dull colored, and an eerie sense filled me as I looked at it a second longer. It remembered me of depression and sorrow, and I started to feel those feelings for I released that this was the home that Sheldon comes to everyday, and gets mistreated.
As I studied the house, I couldn’t help but think that it was the kind of house you expected Count Olaf from the "Lemony Snicket" series, to live in.
“Are you gonna come in?” Ella asked me with a frown that had played on her lips since I questioned her dad’s cruelty towards Sheldon.
“Yeah, sorry,” I mumbled and walked into the house.
My eyes danced around, not only in search of Sheldon, but to take in my surroundings. To my surprise, the inside looked very modern. All walls were white, and small lights beamed down from the ceilings. Hardwood floors were, from what I could tell, stretching throughout the house. Sculptures of different sizes and colors were placed randomly around me.
Ella led me farther into the house.
We came to the living room and I saw two black leather couches parallel to one another. There was no television, just a glass coffee table and a red rug in between the couches.
Even if the house was contemporary on the inside, a cold, almost lonely feeling radiated all around me.
“E-Ella? I-Is that you?” A voice wimpered.
It was hard for me to pinpoint where the voice was coming from, but I knew who it was that spoke: Sheldon.
“Yeah!” Ella replied as she hurriedly ran out of the living room.
I chased behind her and noted she was going down a long hallway.
She stopped walking when she reached the last door. Her small hands reached out and she opened the door. Slowly, Ella walked in.
“Aunt Bean said she hopes you get better.” I could hear Ella says as I gradually got closer to the door.
“Did you tell her the truth?” Sheldon weakly asked.
“No, you told me not to ... but I told her,” Ella looked at me, as I stood in the doorway.
Sheldon’s eyes bulged at the sight of me, and I did too, for he was all bruised and looked very sickly.
“Sheldon.”
“Kim.”
We spoke at the same time.<><><><><><><><><>
